Gartnagrenach is a traditional stone built farmhouse on the edge of Knapdale Forest. The accommodation consists of living room, separate lounge/dining room, both with satellite television, 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room. Bathroom, with over bath shower, is on the ground floor. The full range of white goods is provided, including washing machine and dishwasher. LPG central heating throughout the house. Focal point fires (electric & gas) in both main rooms. Pets and children welcome. From the grounds surrounding us here at Gartnagrenach Holidays you may see many varieties of local wildlife including deer, red squirrels, pine marten, woodpeckers, buzzards and jays to name but a few. If you are lucky you might also catch a glimpse of an osprey or golden eagle. If you are not venturing too far then satellite TV and DVD players are in both the living room and lounge/dining room and a Bluetooth hi fi to allow you to listen to music from your devices. There is a selection of games, jigsaws and reading materials. We are also a pet friendly house although we do ask that you don't allow them up on the furniture or to sleep on the beds. The area around here is perfect for exercising your dogs and after a long muddy day there is an outside tap to wash them down! Please note that we don't charge extra for your dog(s) but reserve the right to make a charge on the security deposit if necessary. Shopping and Eating Out Lochgilphead has a wide range of local shops and a supermarket for all your shopping needs. There are also a variety of cafes and hotels, a fish and chip shop and both Chinese and Indian restaurants in the town. Further afield but within easy reach there are hotel/restaurants in Crinan, Cairnbaan, Kilmartin and Tayvallich. As well as you having the full house to enjoy there is secure storage and a drying room for storage of your fishing equipment, boats, canoes, bicycles etc as well as any outdoor clothing. Within this shed there is a tumble dryer for your use in case of inclement weather. Plentiful parking and room for trailers. In the event we are not around to greet you personally when you arrive we have fitted a lockbox to allow you to access the house. There is a welcome folder in the living room which will give you all the information you may need. We require occasional use of the steadings and sheds external to the house, however, this will be kept to minimum and every effort made to avoid interfering with your enjoyment of the peace and the location. On arrival please park in yard and call at house next door. We live in the neighbouring house (but separate) so can assist you with any queries or provide further information, however, we know that it is your holiday and for you to enjoy. Due to the rural countryside location use of a vehicle or motorcycle (or bicycle) is recommended. There are public transport services available, with Citylink bus connections to Lochgilphead from Glasgow and local services onwards to Achnamara on schooldays and additional runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Several taxi firms are available in the Lochgilphead area. Further afield there are ferries to Islay, Arran and Gigha from the Kintyre peninsula. Oban, gateway to the isles for ferries to Mull and Iona is only 35 miles away. The Scottish Government has advised that self catering accommodation can re-open from 26th April. However, any relaxation of Covid 19 protective measures will be undertaken by the phased implementation of the Tier system. In the meantime we will only be welcoming bookings commencing on Saturdays for 6 nights or Sundays for 5 nights, or 12 night breaks on both. This is to allow us to implement our enhanced cleaning and disinfection programme and to have the house ready for you. We are following government and industry COVID 19 guidelines and are members of the "WE'RE GOOD TO GO" National Tourist Organisations scheme. A welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar, eggs, butter and bread is provided for you. We also supply ecover cleaning products for your use in the washing machine, dishwasher and bathroom and kitchen. Toilet paper, kitchen roll and bin bags are also included. If bringing your pet we also have available pet bed, towels and bowls. All bedlinen and towels are included in the nightly cost. For those who enjoy cooking while on holiday the kitchen area is complete with dual fuel cooker, microwave oven and all the pots, pans, dishes, cutlery etc that you might need, you don't need to bring anything! For outside a charcoal BBQ is available. We have a wide selection of DVDs in the property, a games console, a range of family games and jigsaws for you, and badminton racquets for the front lawn! - Plenty to keep the young and the not so young amused! As we don't impose a cleaning charge we would ask that you leave the house clean, as you found it. We would also ask that you leave all used towels in the utility area. You do not have to strip the beds (unless you really want to!). Please note that the farmhouse is situated half a mile beyond Barnluasgan, on the Achnamara road about 7 miles from Lochgilphead. Correct post code is PA31 8PS and not PA31 8PF per listing (map shows correct location). Mobile 'phone signal is variable. Although the bedrooms are set up for six we could accommodate additional occasional guests by altering the sleeping arrangements. Both fold away and inflatable single beds are available. For younger ones a travel cot, high chair and changing mat can be provided. The property is supplied by a private filtered and treated water supply. Arrival/departure dates and number of nights stay may be flexible, please contact us.
