Countryside cottage,ideal for families,great walks

Jays Cottage is a light airy cottage with plenty of comfort for a family or a larger gathering. Situated on a quiet country lane with the Boudicca Way footpath passing close by. The house has an enclosed garden with views across the surrounding countryside and a covered outside seating area. With a large kitchen diner, sitting rooms with a wood burner and open fire. Sleeping accommodation is across 6 bedrooms and is spacious and flexible. The kitchen diner has an extendable table for seating up to 12 and with a 4-door AGA, providing a sociable space to enjoy your meals. The french doors open out to a covered seating area and the surrounding garden. There are two sitting rooms- with wood burner or open fire and an additional snug room with children's books and toys. Also another snug/ office with desk suitable for home-working or to sit quietly to read your favourite book. A back porch, utility area and downstairs toilet provide a good space for leaving your outdoor gear having been enjoying the countryside. The galleried landing looks down onto the hallway. Upstairs are 5 spacious bedrooms, bathroom, shower room and en-suite (with large corner bath). The 6th bedroom is in a studio in the garden, providing a spacious room with en-suite shower room. Alternatively, this room can be used to sit in and admire the views across the countryside. The garden is fully enclosed, with a climbing frame for children. There is plenty of space for some games of football, and hide and seek. The gravelled driveway provides off road parking for at a number of cars. The bedrooms allow for some flexibility- giving children (up to 6) a couple of rooms for them share or spread them out across some of the double rooms. We can ensure that if you are a large group the children can all have beds in the house and keep the studio for the adults or as extra living space. With 6 bedrooms you can spread yourselves out accordingly- particularly useful in these times. The house and garden are for sole use of the guests. We try to arrange an early check in / late check out for weekend bookings out of school holidays. Please ask. We are available by phone or in person throughout your stay. We are nearby if required. The surrounding area provides numerous walks of varying lengths from the house. The Boudicca Way passes very close by and the Venta Icenorum (Caistor Roman Town) is accessible by footpath or 5 min drive. Norwich city centre is a 15 minute drive away, enabling easy access to visit the Castle, Cathedral and well known Covered Market. Caistor Hall is a local hotel and restaurant and the nearby villages have pubs and local amenities. The Stoke Mill and Widebeest restaurants are well reviewed in the area and 5 min drive away. The nearest bus routes are a 10 minute walk and there are regular services to Norwich City Centre. If choosing to drive to Norwich there are plenty of car parks within a 15 minute drive, or 5 minutes to Park and Ride. The East Coast of Norfolk, with the popular Winterton and Horesy beaches, is easily accessible, and approx. 30 min drive. There are many walking routes from the house providing a variety of circular walks. If booking a weekend stay out of school holidays we will try to arrange an early check in and / or late check out.
