Built in the 1800's out of Portland Stone and restored by the present owners Anchor Cottage has a lot of charm & character. On the ground floor is a comfortable lounge & dining area with a magnificent stone fire place & gas burning stove which makes it feel just like home. There is also a fully equipped kitchen & bathroom with the luxury of underfloor heating. The first floor comprises of 3 bedrooms that sleeps up to 5 & each room is tastefully furnished. 4 Star Rating with Visit Britain. For your entertainment at Anchor Cottage there is a TV with built in DVD player, freeview, a couple of games to play, books to read and WIFI. The front garden has seating and off road parking for 2 cars. The rear garden is enclosed making it a safe place for children to play and there is a BBQ too. The whole house, garden and drive is solely for your use . Contact me on your arrival and I will come and greet you to make sure you are happy with everything and suggest some great places to go. If you have any problems during your stay, I am only a phone call away. Anchor Cottage is situated in the original part of Weston overlooking the village green giving a feeling of spaciousness and is a great starting point for many walks to enjoy Portland's natural beauty and panoramic views of the Dorset coastline. Portland is steeped in history and along with it's rugged beauty makes it a wonderful place to stay, especially if you enjoy walking, birdwatching, rock climbing, mountain biking, fishing, diving, windsurfing and sailing. Portland is famous for it's stone and there are a few quarries dotted around the Island, including Tout Quarry which has not been used commercially for many years but is now a sculpture park for people to explore and enjoy. Portland Bill is enjoyed not only by visitors but by the locals too, with the Lighthouse, Pulpit Rock, Bird Observatory and the Lobster Pot Café it is a lovely place to relax and watch the boats and yachts sail by. If you are looking to use public transport, there are 2 bus stops close to Anchor Cottage and both only a couple of minutes walk away. During daytime hours they run every 12 minutes and later in the day every 20-30 minutes. If you are looking to spend the day in Weymouth the bus could be an alternative or you can use the park and ride located on the outskirts of Weymouth. If you are feeling energetic you can have a hire bike delivered to your door and get to Weymouth part of the way off road using the Rodwell trail and stop at Sandsfoot Castle on route for refreshments and great views of Portland Harbour.
