The house benefits from a beautiful secluded terrace, nestled beneath Totnes' historic Norman castle, perfect for al fresco dining or drinks. There are two large bedrooms and the family size traditional kitchen has a homely feel, boasting a Rangemaster oven. The cosy sitting room is a great place to relax with an open fire. You are a short walk from Totnes High Street and all the wonderful shops, restaurants and bars it has to offer, it is famous for it's independently minded businesses and shops. You can enjoy a relaxing amble along the River Dart, looking out for lots of wildlife including otters and seals. Further afield there are many villages and pubs waiting to be explored. Nearby natural attractions include some of the best beaches in the UK and the splendour of Dartmoor National Park. Parking is at a premium in Totnes, there is a public car park a few minutes walk from the cottage. Holly Cottage provides an ideal location for rest, relaxation and exploring South Devon. This lovely home is an ideal base for a small family group or couples looking for a place to stay within walking distance of the town's amenities. Holly Cottage is in the centre of Totnes Market Town but remains a tranquil relaxing space. The cottage is perfectly located for all public transport, train, bus and ferry. Kitchen/Dining area. The country kitchen boasts an impressive Rangemaster oven, a fridge freezer, washing machine and microwave. It has a breakfast bar, sofa and a large table that can seat 6 people . It's got plenty of pots, pans and cooking equipment, making it feel like a home from home. Living Room. The Living room is cosy but spacious and the focus of the room is an open fire, lovely for winter nights. A comfortable sofa and chair to seat four people. For entertainment there is Freeview TV, DVD, Playstation 2 and MP3 Dock. Or you can choose from one of the books or board games, cards. Bedrooms. The master bedroom has two windows providing plenty of natural light. As well as a comfortable double bed, chair, a dressing table and wardrobe. Bedroom two has twin beds, chest of drawers and plenty of storage with a fitted wardrobe.High Quality bed linen and towels are provided, with the exception of beach towels which you'll need to bring with you. Bathroom. Next to bedroom two is the family sized bathroom. As well as a basin and toilet, it has a newly fitted shower over the bath and a bath screen. Bath mat provided. Conservatory. At the top of the stairs between the two bedrooms is a small conservatory where doors can be opened and you can sit at the foot of Totnes Castle. We provide an emergency contact should anything go wrong during your stay. We hope it doesn't! Totnes is a wonderful town and has a reputation for being one of the most diverse and creative towns in the country. Heritage and culture are the main attractions and it's even been voted as one of the ten funkiest town in the world in a survey of travel writers. It's located on the banks of the beautiful River Dart and nestles between the rolling hills of the South Hams, an Area of Outstanding Beauty. The town is steeped in history and was once the capital of the South West of England. It's a transition town, and famed for having its own currency and is fiercely proud of the independent high street shops and cafes (no Costa here!!). Local produce is everywhere with local butcher, Green grocers and a Riverford shop. Music is everywhere from the Barrel House to the main street, everything you could want, all within walking distance of Holly Cottage. Further afield you could enjoy the riverside villages such as Tuckenhay and Dittisham, Asprington and Stoke Gabriel. Take the river boat along the Dart during the summer and stop off at ‘Greenway' the home of Agatha Chrisite. Or carry onto the yachting ports of Dartmouth or Salcombe.Walkers are spoilt with the National Park of Dartmoor a short distance away, the South West Costal Path or simply walking along the River Dart and finding yourself in a vineyard having a wonderful lunch, at the amazing Dartington Hall and Cider Press, the Sharpham Wine & Cheese estate or many of the traditional pubs that hug the river.There are too many attractions for the children to mention here, adventure parks, farms, acres of sandy beaches for swimming or crabbing in Stoke Gabriel (whilst parents enjoy a cream tea), Devon Blue enables you to paint their own pottery and the Castle are just a very few of the things to do in this great area. Holly Cottage is the perfect base for you to explore this wonderful area, it's the perfect destination for holiday makers looking for an interesting, intriguing and fascinating holiday that is close to some of the best beaches in the UK and the famous National Park of Dartmoor. Holly Cottage is a 10 minute walk from Totnes train station. Or if you have a car then there is a public car park 100 yards away on North Street We have a wonderful caretaker who ensures the Cottage is always set out to the highest standard, clean and well presented.
