Maison De Cognac

This is a large 3 bed (2 en suite) renovated farmhouse in a quiet hamlet but with easy access to cities, towns and beaches. There is a good sized private walled garden, and parking for up to three cars. Please note that due to Covid-19 and restrictions (including upon our travel!) there is no above-ground pool facility in 2021 You will have the whole house, parking and garden to yourself. Our house is next door and we have our own garden etc. There is a security box for the keys to the house. We live on site and although we are not on site all of the time ( we take trips and holidays sometimes!) are always happy to offer help and advice on any matters relating to your stay. Detailed instructions and plenty of local information and maps are always available in the house. Our small hamlet of Haimps is pretty, quiet and peaceful. However, it is only a 5 minute drive into the town of Matha where there are the usual supermarkets, banks, shops, petrol stations, bars and restaurants and an outdoor swimming pool. We often cycle either into Matha or, in the other direction, Beauvais Sur Matha. There is a new high class restaurant in our commune at La Pinelle as of 2021. The roads are safe and it is a lovely area to cycle but if you go further afield in the car you can reach Cognac in about 20 minutes, Angouleme in about 40 minutes, La Rochelle 1 hour 15 minutes and Bordeaux in 1 hour 30 minutes. There are some fantastic beaches which are about an hour away and there are three or four golf courses within easy distance. You can drive to the Ile de Re or Ile D'Oleron within about 1 hour 30 minutes. There is plenty of parking space on site and you will need a car to access the larger towns although Matha is within walking/cycling distance (well it is for us!) We have a "games area" with table tennis table, table football table and a dartboard. Although there is a TV, it is only for use with the DVD player and for French TV channels. There is a stock of English DVDs available and a few French ones in case there aren't subtitles. There are also English reading books and a couple of French reading books together with a few board games.
