Abbeyhill is a quite residential area behind Holyrood Palace and the Royal Mile. There are plenty of buses to get to the city centre or you can walk easily to the Old or New Town from here. You will find Meadowbank shopping centre 500 metres (6 minutes) away from the house where the big supermarket Sainsburys is located. There is a good selection of places where to eat and drink in the neighborhood or you can go for a stroll in the park. Also the Royal Mile, main street in the Old Town, is just 5 minutes walking distance from us so there are plenty of good restaurants, pubs and all the main attractions nearby. The apartment is 400 metres (5 minutes) from the bus stop (Carlyle place) at London Road. During the day you have many buses such as number 26 or 104 taking you to Princes Street (Waverley train station and the bus station) or the Royal Mile. There is also a night bus (N26) which runs after 12am. Buses cost £1.70 single and £4.00 day ticket. You need exact change and buy them from the bus driver. Also 500 metres away and next to Holyrood Palace, you will find the bus stop for the Tourist City Bus Tour and bus 35 which takes you to the middle of the Royal Mile (£1.70, 3 minutes). Bus tickets are also bought from the bus driver. A taxi from Waverley train station, bus station, Airlink last bus stop or the last tram bus stop lasts 5 minutes and costs around £6. A taxi from the airport to my house should cost around £23 and last roughly 25 minutes. It takes roughly 20 minutes to walk from Waverley train station or Waverley bridge (last stop of Airlink bus) to the house. You can find another listing in Airbnb for the second room and a flat.
