Lakefront Holiday Getaway
Appartamento Soleluna is a bright and airy two-bedroom apartment on the premier western shore of Lake Como in the picturesque lakeshore village of Sala Comacina. Registration number CIR: (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) CNI (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) Soleluna is set on the first floor of an historic building (one a monastery), with entry via an imposing wooden door, across a small courtyard and up a vaulted staircase. Situated by the lake, the house is in a secluded position away from the main road, and ideal for a couple or a family, or a group of friends. The sitting room features vaulted ceiling and French doors out to a picture-postcard terrace ideal for alfresco dining or relaxing, and to enjoy the sunrise in the morning and moonrise in the evening. Private steps lead down to a garden for direct access to the lake via iron ladder (see House Rules). The master bedroom has French doors with lake view; the second bedroom is to the rear and separated from the kitchen by high drapes with two single bunk beds sleeping 4 persons. The central kitchen includes a 4-burner cooker with oven, microwave, and a two-door fridge. The adjacent bathroom features glassed shower enclosure, toilet, bidet, vanity, and a washing machine. Free wi-fi is included in the apartment. The apartment can be booked in conjunction with the apartment below (see Lake Front Holiday Home for 10 people (Airbnb.com/rooms/ (Website hidden by Airbnb) ), to sleep a total of 10 guests in three bedrooms and sofa-bed, with 2 bathrooms and two kitchens; ideal for a group of friends! The terrace overlooks the garden below and offers far-reaching views of Lake Como: to the right over the village beach with swimming area set into the lake, with the ferry pontile along the ‘Lungo Lago’ walkway beyond; and to the left, the iconic orange tower of Villa Camanni. The village of ‘Sala’ enjoys a unique micro-climate protected by Lake Como’s only island with ambiance for year-round relaxation and sightseeing convenience. The sites of Lake Como can be reached by regular seasonal ferry service, C10 bus, or water taxi, making a car unnecessary. We're happy to interact as you wish with general tourist information or to provide an insider’s guide to Sala and Lake Como. Just up from the apartment on Via San Rocco you'll find Max’s Bar Milani offering bottled water, beer, wine, and spirits, along with coffee and ice-creams. In Sala Comacina you may also enjoy the experience of village life with every convenience close at hand: village bakery (with grocery supplies), artisan butcher, three caffé/bars, three restaurants open year-round - with a further two in the warmer months; bank with Bancomat (ATM), post office, and village church: all within 300 metres of Appartamento Soleluna. In nearby Lenno (2 km) the weekly market in the town square and along the waterfront around the beautiful ‘Baia di Venere’ (the Bay of Venus), has been drawing visitors for over 100 years to troll the stalls selling everything from vegetables, plants, clothing, smallgoods, hot roast meats, hardware, to caged birds. At any time the Lenno waterfront is a wonderful spot to enjoy a stroll or refreshment and both Bar Golfo and Bar Sport offer free Wi-Fi. In Lenno you'll also find a Sigma supermarket, petrol station, hardware shop (Valdé), and coffee shop with free Wi-Fi, all within a few metres of each other dispersed across the intersection of Via Rima and the main road, Via Statale (SS340). Close by is the more interesting local Dino’s supermarket, and a pharmacy (English spoken). Shop hours vary. A car is unnecessary as all major landmarks can be accessed by local C10 (blue) bus, or more leisurely by lake ferry. The 'Greenway Walk' explores historic spots along the lake and connects from above the house (access from the Yellow Madonna along Via degli Ulivi near the cemetery), or by taking the ancient and unique Via dei Pini behind Pro-Loco. From Sala amble to Ossuccio and beyond to Lenno, Mezzegra, and Tremezzo (Villa Carlotta), finishing in Griante, a distance of some 8.5 km – meandering along the lakeshore and at other times higher up with panoramic views. The Greenway is easily doable in parts, as the walk touches C10 bus stops and ferry embarkation points along its path. General food items including fresh bread, meats and smallgoods, twice weekly vegetable van, wine, beer, soft drinks, bottled water, and ice creams, etc are all conveniently available in the village of Sala. Nearby Lenno (2 km) offers two supermarkets, a pharmacy, and English-speaking medical service. Emergency Hospital assistance is available in Menaggio.
