Our names are Donna and Peter and we are so happy to be hosting you in our home. Please enjoy wandering around our lovely property. Be sure to take a stroll around the property, or take a seat at the fire pit and watch the afternoon pass by. If that doesn't peak your interest, may we suggest taking a refreshing dip in our gorgeous salt water pool. Why not see if you can spot one of the many animals that happily co-inhabit our property. Keep your eyes peeled for goannas, turkeys, eagles, bandicoots, pheasants and the odd wallaby along with a large number of bird life that visit the animal baths morning and afternoons. We have created a detailed guide book along with maps/pamphlets for your perusal to make your experience more enjoyable. Why not relax by the pool and flick through our top tips for the area! We would encourage you to enjoy the fresh air and take time to relax and rejuvenate in this very special place we call home :) You will have access to a studio on the lower level of our house. It is completely closed off from the rest of the house and you can come and go as you please via your private, lockable separate entrance. The space is very large and bright. It has a private bathroom, lounge/tv section, kitchenette, air conditioning, outdoor seating area and of course the bed area. You can park your car right outside your room. We are both Sarina locals and have spent the majority of our lives living and working in the local area. As a result of this, we like to think we know a little of what there is to know about Sarina, Mackay and the Surrounding areas. With this in mind, we will happily spend time chatting with you to give you some tips and suggestions to maximize your experience of our gorgeous town and surrounding area. Equally so, we are happy to let you enjoy your time in private and will keep to ourselves upstairs. We will be there to chat as much or as little as you desire. A full country style Breakfast will be stored in your private fridge and pantry before arrival so you can enjoy it at your leisure. There are a number of areas available that you can enjoy your breakfast none the least beside the pool. From spectacular lookouts to secret pebble and sandy beaches, Coal ports to Sugar mills we are certain you will enjoy your time in tropical Sarina. Sarina has so much to offer for the adventure traveler as well as those seeking utter relaxation! There are endless, sprawling beaches where you can walk for hours and not see another sole. Ask Donna about finding a shell or two along the way . There are bush-walks where you can try to spot the many species of birds who call the rain forest home. Or, you can check out the Field of Dreams - a one stop shop for history buffs and curious cats alike! Learn how Ethanol and Rum are made, and how the Sarina Sugar Mill creates sugar to export all over the world! You simply have to stop off at the giant Cane Toad (for a selfie) and a happy snap with the town mascot! Sarina is the gateway to the north and the district Tourism office will now call Sarina home please drop in for all your free maps etc. It's just a 30min drive to Mackay where you'll be amazed at the diverse range of activities there. From The Botanic Gardens to the Marina to the Northern Beaches and Canelands Shopping Town, there are endless things to do in Mackay and Sarina! Let's not forget that we are in the heart of the gateway to Airlie Beach and the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands. Many guests choose to take a drive to Eungella to catch a glimpse of that amazing little creature that calls Broken River home , of course the rain forest walks aren’t half bad either. Please note that the fruit trees across the front road belong to our neighbour who runs a farm shop just up the highway towards Mackay. We would highly recommend having your own car if you are planing to stay at the Pleasant Pheasant. We are located in a rural environment , so we are afraid walking to the shops isn't an option. We love the seclusion and privacy of not having neighbours on our doorstep but understand the importance of having access to a vehicle to rejoin civilization occasionally. Our township is definitely not known for its public transport links! There is little/no accessible public transport from here. If you are wanting to get a bus from Sarina to Mackay, we can gladly drop you at the bus station; buses depart four times daily. This said pick up and drop can be prearranged if required. We are flexible with pet owners. Please do inquire if you'd like to stay at the Pleasant Pheasant with your furry friends. We would be more dog friendly then cat due to Truffles not understanding the cat world that well. We happily offer you a hearty "Pleasant Pheasant Breakfast" a fresh fruit plate which is included in the room rate. In your fridge you will find a sumptuous selection of local and imported fruits, a platter of breakfast goodies including bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, garlic, onion, herbs... whatever is in season! How you cook it is up to you! There is a BBQ just outside the studio for your convenience. As well you will have a choice of snacks, juices, coffee, tea, milk and spreads to enjoy at your leisure!
