Outdoor areas include a side deck with BBQ and front sunny secure garden with 4 seater table and chairs and outdoor lounge for relaxing. The house is secured behind electric gates. Offstreet parking for 1 car and additional free parking on the street right outside. Balaclava station - 6 minute walk (then 12 minutes on train to CBD) Carlise St - 5 minutes walk St Kilda beach - 15 minute walk Close to 3 and 16 trams. 1 offstreet secure car parking and free parking on street. We have the Balaclava Station on the Sandringham train line just 8 minutes walk away. This gets you to Flinders St in Melbourne CBD in just 12 minutes (head for the City). Trains run every 10 – 20 minutes depending on the day and time. Get off at Richmond for the tennis. There are also the 3 and 16 trams that run along Carlise St. The 16 and 3a (weekends) tram takes you into St Kilda. Taxi’s can be booked by dialling 13 CABS or using the 13 CABS app and Uber is very easy to use. Local area Your nearest supermarket is on Carlise St. where you have the choice of Coles or Woolworths. Just an 8 minute walk. Turn left out of the house, right at the end of the street and then left on Carlise St. The supermarkets are a few minutes’ walk on the right. Carlisle Street... ... Is just 8 minutes’ walk from the house and there is a range of cafes and restaurants to enjoy. Ilona Staller - This is quite a funky restaurant, more gourmet than Gattica, nice for a fancy meal. Eat, Love, Taco - Great for small bite to eat, the tacos are yummy and the beers are reasonable Yo-Chi - Fantastic frozen yoghurt joint! Amenities - Carlisle has a chemist if you need it, Priceline, Coles/Woolworths and a couple of 7/11s so you can pretty much get your hands on anything you need. Chapel Street... (or as we like to call it, "Chaps") ... Thriving Chapel st (Windsor end) is just 1 train stop away, or a 20ish minute walk on a nice day. Not to be missed for its shopping, cafes, bars and restaurants. More late night venues can be found on Chapel St than Carlisle St, most food and drink places have outdoor seating. Getting there - You can either jump on a train from Balaclava Station and get off 1 stop later at Windsor, or 2 stops later at Prahran, or 3 stops later at South Yarra depending on how far along Chapel St you want to get to. Alternatively, walk along Carlisle until you reach Chapel st and you can then jump on a tram that travels all the way along Chapel St (if you're lucky, it will be one of the old fashioned trams and you can take a little travel back in time as well as along the road). If you have time to spare and its a nice day, why not walk to Chapel? You can walk along Carlisle Street and then turn right on to Chaps. Buddhas Belly along the road a bit offers $6 pints of Budvar, both great places for happy hour drinks if you're looking for a bargain. Happy hour is usually 4pm – 8pm and all afternoon on Sundays! Saigon Sally - just up a side street off Chaps (Duke Street), really great food, Vietnamese/Asian style, great vibe, try to book, otherwise turn up and get your name down for a seat at the bar. The Smith - On High Street, this is an upmarket restaurant and bar if you're looking for somewhere fancy to go, delicious food. Morris Jones - Another great restaurant but also great to pop in if you just want a cocktail. Chez Olivier - If you have a passion for authentic French food then Chez is not to be missed! Authentic French dishes on the menu including snails, more of a down to earth type restaurant rather than a fancy dress up restaurant. Can be found on Greville Street which runs from Prahran Station to Chapel St, along with an array of other cool places to eat and drink. St Kilda... ... The beautiful beach of St Kilda is just 15-20 minutes' walk away. You can take an easy stroll down Carlise St (through the Botanical Gardens) to Acland Street, or jump on a tram on Carlisle street and save your feet and get off at Luna Park. Luna Park would be fun with the kids. Claypots - Our favourite seafood restaurant in Melbourne! A really fun and laid back atmosphere, no bookings and first come first served, take a look in the glass fridge case to see what fish you'd like to order, we highly recommend starting with a king prawn each ($10 per prawn, but oh, so worth it!). You'll find Claypots just at the top of Acland Street, if you're walking, turn down Blessington from Carlisle St and a quick walk through the houses will see you arrive at the top of Acland St. Most of the fish will be gone before 9pm so try and get there early. Acland St - A great street to walk down and stop for a coffee and cake. The cake shops here are amazing, not to be missed! You'll also find some nice boutiques and some cool pubs, great when the sun is out! Walk to the end of Acland St and you'll find yourself in front of Luna Park and St Kilda beach. Captain Baxter - Right on the breach front, cool funky bar with dressed up dolls for Sunday sessions, also has fantastic views out to the sea if you can get a table! Gets very busy on Sunday afternoons. Cycle lane - if you are on a bike, there is a coastal cycle lane that runs all the way from St Kilda beach to Elwood and beyond to Brighton, a really beautiful cycle on a sunny Sunday morning.
