There is the big 'Han River' which cross Seoul from East to West, which divide s the city into north & south area. The northern part of Seoul is traditional, old downtown in which the palace is located, and Southern part is a rather new city which was planned and developed by government from (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) s. Gangnam is the center of the southern part, and the word 'Gangnam' which means 'the south of the river' has become an iconic word to represent 'rich' & 'success' of people in Seoul. Many companies are located in Gangnam area especially along 'Teheran' street, which has brought Gangnam as the center of business in Seoul. But from a few years ago, 'Pangyo' city which is more southern part of Seoul that belong to 'Gyeonggi-do' district is becoming a center of hi-tech and start-up business, a successor of Gangnam. But still, Gangnam is always busy, crowded. Young people and visitors in Seoul are attracted by many restaurant, clubs and pubs located here. One more thing.
