Meadow View, Coln St Aldwyns, Cotswolds - sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Meadow View is an immaculately decorated and maintained, bright and airy cottage, with lots of pretty windows affording views on all sides, sweeping across the Williamstrip and Hatherop Estates - acres of meadow, parkland, and farmland - and the undulating Coln Valley and rushing waters of the River Coln. Step out of the front door and you're straight into miles and miles of walking, including an idyllic 4- or 6-mile route to Bibury (famed for its Arlington Row cottages, possibly the most photographed tourist location in the Cotswolds!), where you can have a bite to eat at The Swan, The Catherine Wheel or in the café at Bibury Trout Farm. If you're staying with little ones, simply cross the road to a safe, secure, and immaculate adventure playground, complete with picnic tables and benches. Then wander downhill to the River Coln, flanked by rolling hills that are home to flocks of sheep and herds of cows – a truly bucolic scene. If you're lucky enough to catch a sunset, it'll be one of the most beautiful you're ever likely to see! Head back up the road to the Coln Community Shop for a cuppa and a slice of some of the tastiest cake in the Cotswolds! At the end of your day exploring the Cotswolds, return to Meadow View and Coln St Aldwyns, far from the madding crowds, with easy parking, peace and quiet and an immaculate and cosy home-from-home. Ground Floor Entrance Hall: Step into a brightly lit hallway with coat hooks and a large coir mat for muddy footwear, leading to stairs with handrail to first floor and entrance to dining area/kitchen. Dining Room: Leading through from the hallway is the open plan dining room/kitchen with oak dining table, to seat 6 comfortably (plus a highchair), and matching side board. Bright and airy, with accents of yellow throughout and windows to the front, rear and side of the property, this is a fantastic entertaining space. Separating the dining area from the kitchen is a wide breakfast bar with 2 bar stools on the dining side, while concealing cupboards and the built-in fridge and freezer on the kitchen side. Meadow View's dining room is a delightful space to enjoy a relaxed breakfast, light lunch or a special evening supper. (Please note: food items in the photographs are for illustration purposes only). Kitchen: The immaculate light-oak laminate worktops and white cupboards are offset with lichen-green wall tiles and wooden flooring. The double sink overlooks the back garden and the tall trees of Williamstrip Estate. You'll find all you need here for a self-catered stay at Meadow View, including a spotless electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, integrated fridge/freezer, matching De'Longhi toaster and kettle, and all the essential crockery, glassware, and cooking utensils. In the kitchen, in the under-stairs cupboard you will find a foldable highchair with table, a SpaceCot travel cot, Shark upright vacuum, brush, mop and bucket. The Living Room: The relaxing and calming cream-coloured living room, with accents of yellow, has views to the cottage's front and rear gardens. Seating six guests on a very comfy sink-in corner sofa and armchair, the room is set up for viewing the TV or enjoying a game and a chat. You'll also find a light oak coffee table, occasional table with lamp, BT router, LG TV and dimmable lighting to create a cosy ambiance. French windows lead directly out to the patio area and garden, making this room an easy walk through from the kitchen for setting up an al fresco meal. W.C: Dual-flush toilet with handbasin, mirror and handy under sink cupboard (for guests sleeping in Bedroom 3). Side door: Exit this door to access bins and side entrance through a wooden gate to the back garden. Bedroom Three: This downstairs double bedroom, looking out onto the side garden, is ideal for guests who find stairs difficult or for anyone who might like a little independence from the rest of the group. With a snug double bed set with crisp linens, a fluffy duvet and country-inspired embroidered curtains and cushions, Bedroom 3 is a retreat within a retreat. (Note: a built-in cupboard with hangers is not shown but is provided). First Floor Landing: At the top of the stairs is a light-oak desk positioned so that you can look out over the back garden and Williamstrip Estate. You'll find two double power points, making this an ideal spot for connecting devices, working on a laptop, reading or relaxing. Bedroom One: Overlooking the front of the house is the king-size, master bedroom, with its relaxing tonal hues and moss green accent. The light-oak bedframe is complemented by an oak headboard, large, 3-door wardrobe (with plenty of covered hangers), bedside chest of drawers and lamps, and a dressing table (with TRESemme hairdryer), stool and mirror. In addition, the room has dimmable lighting, a long mirror, and plenty of space for a baby's travel cot. You'll also find an original 1930's fitted cupboard housing the water heater and immersion tank (please do not adjust settings). The large window, with its wide window sills, provides a beautiful frame for views of Coln St Aldwyns and the valley beyond. Bedroom Two: A pretty and bright, dual-aspect twin bedroom with beautiful views over the cottage's front and rear gardens and out towards the wider Cotswold countryside. This twin room has two sink-in single beds, a large, 2-door, oak wardrobe (with covered hangers) and an oak dressing table with stool and mirror. With accents of refreshing duck-egg blue, and a gorgeous picture of a hare looking down over the beds, this room is a delightful second bedroom that couples or children will enjoy. Family Bathroom: The cottage's family bathroom is at the rear of the house, next to Bedroom 1, yet still convenient for Bedroom 2. Polished limestone tiling, wood-effect flooring, and a window to the rear (with Venetian-style blind for privacy) create a spa-like space to relax in. With a large, walk-in Grohe shower, full-size bath with mixer taps, heated towel rail, a sink with large mirror and dual-flush toilet, plus a small selection of toiletries, there's everything here you'll need for your stay. Outside Meadow View is framed by a lawn area to its front and a large private garden to its rear, affording it a wonderful feeling of privacy. A wooden fence separates Meadow View from the neighbouring property. To the side of the cottage is a secure wooden gate leading to a gravel and concrete path around the back of the house. It's in the back garden where the cottages' magic really comes alive, thanks to the meadow of the adjoining Williamstrip Park, making the garden feel larger than it is thanks to the adjacent, sweeping countryside views. The cottage has patio area outside the dining room's French windows, with BBQ and garden table and chairs for 6, making it perfect for al fresco dining and relaxing after a day exploring the Cotswolds. Next to the patio area is a garden storeroom, suitable for a couple of bikes/a pushchair, and walking gear. (Note: there is an oil tank at the back of the garden, concealed with wicker fencing. Please do not allow children to play near the tank).
