Unwind and reconnect to nature in our stunning architect designed retreat. An amazing escape from the ordinary. A full kitchen allows for a self catering experience, or make the most of the region's cafes, restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and distilleries. Snuggle around the campfire in winter with our amazing night sky, Yoga on the deck in spring, a hamper and blanket in the orchard for your ultimate picnic in Summer. Fresh Air, Privacy and a Very Romantic Setting. Warm in winter, cool in summer, The Retreat is a great place for all seasons. Nestled on our family property The Retreat provides you with views from the orchard out to the rolling hills and bush of the Mount Bold reserve, your floor to ceiling windows throughout the studio bring our amazing nature inside for you to enjoy in any weather. While a part of our family home, appropriate positioning of windows and blinds by our designers ensure your privacy and uninterrupted views at all times. The beautiful bedroom is separate from the main living area and is set up with a very comfortable King Size bed with great quality linen. The architect designed, fully self contained retreat is set up for the perfect weekender or a great extended stay. We will provide wonderful local ingredients for your first morning’s breakfast including organic sour dough. There are panoramic views from all areas with comfortable areas to sit and relax, indoor or out. Our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint includes a large solar system with Tesla battery, this meets around 70% of our power requirements for the whole property. We offset the balance with annual tree planting. The whole property is off grid for water, we collect all of our rain water which supplies all human needs, the garden is watered by an on site bore. Green waste is composted on site and we grow a lot of our own fruit and vegetables, while encouraging local wildlife habitat as well. In Winter (May1 to October30) you can also enjoy our outdoor fire pit to relax around and watch the stars. Fire wood is available to purchase. Guests also have access to: Shared Laundry Garden Walking Trails Orchard Our family home is on the property at Glenberrie. We will happily meet guests on arrival and then give you the privacy to relax and enjoy your stay. We are always available to give advice on the local area at any time and you will often see us across the property tending to our animals or vegetables. Our drive way is shared with the retreat so you may see our cars during your stay. Kangarilla is a peaceful Adelaide Hills Community which includes vineyards, rolling hills, tall red gum trees, small farms and heritage stone cottages. Close to Forests and Wineries, thirty minutes from the airport and beaches. Close to Mclaren Vale wineries, cafes and restaurants. There are lots of great cycling and walking trails surrounding this area. There is no public transport to Kangarilla, although Uber do service the area. Most guests tell us that the short drive to get here (40 minutes from Adelaide City or 30 minutes to the Airport) is a real highlight. Bring your bike if a keen cyclist and we can show you our favourite trails both on road and off. We often have visits from local wildlife including Kangaroos and Koalas, as well as Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos, Eastern Rosellas and the famous Superb Fairy Wren. Our free range chickens and ducks are also often wandering the gardens during the day. Bring your camera. We have an outside fire pit which is nice to chill out around, we can supply fire wood for $20 a load, or feel free to bring your own. For extended stays we do have laundry facilities that you are welcome to use.
