The Apartment is quite spacious (60 square meters/645 square feet), bed in the bedroom (200x160cm) has two separate covers, two mid century modern style couches in the living room turn into decent single beds but less than a perfect double bed. Kitchen has an integrated double cooking hob (electric), microwave, a contact grill and a dishwasher, and utensils too many to mention all... Glare-free office/computer desk with multiple sockets and free WiFi is a perfect place, if you need to do some work in a peaceful environment. Parking space is in front of the house, free of charge. We keep a garden with seasonal vegetables, herbs and fruits which you may pick and eat during your stay. Washing machine is in the basement and is shared. If you bring your own bicycles, paddle boards or skis, you may put them in the garage. We will greet you in person and often we will be in the house downstairs or you will be able to reach us by phone or e-mail. Our neighborhood is residential and quiet. Forest and hiking trails through it are less than 5 minutes walk away. All of the local sights are well within an 1 hour walk away. Lake shore is 1km/0,6mi away, following the road, but you can also take a shorter but steeper shortcut. Closest island boat pier - 1,5km/1mi Town center (Bus station) - 2,5km/1,6mi Bled castle - 2km/1,2mi Straža skiing slope - 3,6km/2,2mi Osojnica lookout point - 2,6km/1,6mi Vintgar gorge - 3,6 km/2,2mi, Radovna river valley is more of a cycling destination, it's start is 3,1km/1,9mi away. Same stands for Sava Bohinjka river, 3,6km/2,2mi, Grocery store (open April-October) - 1,5km/1mi Bakery - 500 meters/third of a mile If you like outdoors, hiking or cycling on the hilly and mountainous paths or river valleys, Bled and this neighbourhood in particular, are a perfect match for you. And we have space for your equipment in our garage. There is about 50 meters height difference (55 for our house) between the neighbourhood and the level of the lake. This elevation gives the apartment it's nice view. It also means that, If you walk down to the lake, you will need to walk back uphill. There are 4 approaches from the neighbourhood to the lake, so you can choose a longer but lenient way up rather than a really short and steep one. You can also drive to the lake shore and park there, but it can get quite pricey doing that daily for multiple days. Bled is primarily a pedestrian and, to some extent, cycling destination. Walk all around the lake is 7km/4,4mi long, if our house is the starting point. There are also many wooded trails on and around the peaks around the lake, that offer beautiful views on the lake and its surrounding landscapes. Driving and parking within the narrow lake area is limited, expensive, and we do not recommend it. Bled-jezero railway station is only 5 minutes walk away and it gives you an option to enjoy railway day-trips on the scenic Bohinj/Transalpina railway trough the mountains into the emerald Soča valley, in-season also on old-timey steam trains. As for taking train to or from Ljubljana, most of the time, you have to switch trains in Jesenice. Only on weekend days you get a direct train, in the morning from and in the evening to Ljubljana. Main bus station is in the town center, about 30-ish minutes walk along the lake's northern shore. The walk can be a nice introduction to lake Bled. By Slovenian law, we have to do ID check-ins. We use a smartphone app for that, so it only takes a minute. We collect tourist tax separately on the check-in. It is €3,13 per night per adult and 1,56 per night per minors 7-18. To two or more nights stay guests, are eligible for e-cards JULIAN ALPS CARD: BLED, which give access to discounts and freebies at a number of sights, restaurants and various other establishments and services in the Bled area. Active in season, roughly April-September.
