Charming Mountain Retreat with Incredible Views
Our place is situated in beautiful Buzan, a traditional mountain village in the Ariege with views stretching across the valley to the high Pyrenées from our doorstep. The space is recently renovated, using traditional local materials to preserve the 18th Century character of the original building. The Piémont pilgrimage route (GR78) passes our front door, linking to the Camino de Santiago in Spain and is in easy reach of the famous GR10 as well as many walking and cycling networks. The guest suite is the ground floor of our home, it is self contained but there is a shared entrance into the house. There is a cosy master bedroom and a lounge with kitchen and shower room attached. We try to welcome all our guests on arrival, and wish to respect their privacy whilst being on hand for any questions or advice about the local area and places to visit. The village is set on the mountainside, in a rural French setting. 10 mins drive to Castillon which has all amenities - restaurant, small supermarket, bakeries, and petrol station. The valley is populated with restaurants, and the famous Saint-Girons market, every Saturday, is a 20 min drive away. The spectacular Medieval catheral city of St Lizier is also within 20 mins drive. If not walking or cycling, a car is essential for exploring the area. The Piémont pilgrimage route (GR78) passes our front door, linking to the Camino de Santiago in Spain and is in easy reach of the famous GR10 as well as many walking and cycling networks - the Vallée de la Bellongue which we overlook is part of the Tour de France route.
