Barn conversion on the banks of the Canal du Midi

Spacious and bright barn conversion right on the banks of the Canal du Midi in the center of the touristic village of Le Somail. The house comprises 4 double bedrooms, 2 of which are en-suite, and sleeps up to 10. It has an inviting swimming pool set in a private walled courtyard garden. The house is in walking distance of several lovely restaurants and within easy reach of supermarkets, the city of Narbonne and Mediterranean beaches. On the ground floor, the entrance hallway opens onto a spacious open plan living area, with salon, kitchen and dining room, with 2 sets of French doors opening onto a raised terrace overlooking the garden and the Canal du Midi. There is an outdoor dining table and bbq on the terrace. The master suite is off the salon. Another set of French doors from the hallway open onto the swimming pool terrace. Continue down the hallway to a new bedroom with sliding glass doors onto the walled swimming pool terrace. This room has its own new bathroom. Upstairs a mezzanine floor houses 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a sitting room and a utility room. Guest can enjoy a large garden with matures plants and trees. To the back of the property, a second entrance leads to a parking area for up to 5 cars. We will be there to meet and greet you during the arrival times. However if you prefer not to meet due to Covid concerns, there is a key box. We live in the neighbouring village, so you can contact us during your stay, if you have any questions. We are here to make your stay an enjoyable and hassle free one! Le Somail is recognized as one of the most beautiful villages on the banks of the Canal du Midi. It is located about 15 minutes from the city of Narbonne. It has 4 restaurants, several bars, an ice cream parlour and a floating epicerie. There is also a renowned antiquarian bookshop, and several souvenirs shops. It has a lively and atmosphere, yet peaceful. There are towpaths on either side of the Canal for walking or cycling. Mediterranean beaches and the motorway are just half an hour away. The Pyrenees and Spanish border are just over an hour away. There is secure off street parking on the property for 3 - 4 cars. The village has a limited bus service into Narbonne in the summer months but there are plenty of local taxi companies. The Autoroute is less than 30 minutes away. The nearest airports are at Carcassonne and Beziers, about 45 minutes and the airport at Montpellier and Toulouse are around one and a half hours away.
