Limoux is a pretty historical town with a good mix of tourists and ‘normal’ French people who go about their lives. It is easy to fall in love with Limoux, many people do and in fact, it happened to us. We came and stayed! The town has the reputation to love its festivals and celebrations. It has the longest carnival in the world lasting 3 months from early January until late March. The French like to say: Il y a toujours une fête à Limoux’ Limoux is well known for its Blanquette, a sparkling wine dating back to late 1500. There are many opportunities to taste this lovely ‘sparkle’ in the local bars, restaurant and many wineries. Limoux is only 22 km from Carcassonne airport and has a train and bus service to and from Carcassonne. Next to the airport you will find several car rentals at the airport and a few in Limoux. Having a car gives you the opportunity to explore the areas around Limoux as there are plenty of interesting things to see and do. There are many gorgeous hikes and quiet roads for cycling near and further away from the town we have emergency lighting on the stairs incase of power cuts
