This room is great for single guests, and can also be booked in conjunction with the other rooms through my main listing at "Hudson Valley Farmhouse" if you’re looking to book multiple rooms at once. The Yellow Room is a small but charming, bright room on the north side of the house. It is one of the original boarding rooms, set up as it might have been in the mid-1800s. It has a single twin bed, and a school desk from the one room school house that used to be at the end of the road. My house was originally constructed in 1796, and has been in my family since 1937. It is cozy and charming, with a broad porch on the south side great for morning coffee and evening wine. I do have two indoor cats, so please be aware if you have allergies (or phobias!), this is not be the listing for you. The cats are not allowed in the bedrooms once they have been cleaned and set up for guests, but they are allowed in every other space in the house. The Yellow Room ceilings are low, which makes it feel nice and cozy, but might pose an issue if you’re a tall person. One of my guests wrote a song about it: Little Yellow Room by Kirsten Eley. If you decide to book, I can share a link to her song with you (AirBNB blocks web links in messages). Guests have access to most of the house, including kitchen and living room. If a door is closed, or a curtain drawn, please respect that room is not appropriate for guest access. I live here. I work during the week, so am around in the evenings, and am generally doing farm-y chores on the weekends. I'm happy to offer recommendations to area restaurants and attractions. The neighborhood is quiet, rural, and very safe. I have known most of my neighbors for my entire life. There is one local convenience store (Leptondale Market) and one nearby restaurant (Lakeview House). Everything else is between a 10-20 minute drive. Uber is available in the area. The nearest train station on Metro North is Beacon, on the Hudson Line, and is about 20 minutes from my house. Stewart Airport is also about 15-20 minutes away, and has several rental car agencies. Please check out my main listing, "Hudson Valley Farmhouse", for more information. **Weekday Mon-Fri check-in is limited to 5pm at the earliest, except by special arrangement.** Please verify PRIOR TO BOOKING if you need to check in earlier than 5pm during the work week.
