Eiwa Nest in SBFZ: Clean, Pet Friendly, Netflix!
A great spot to unwind with your fur babies, our #EiwaNest is airy and clean. Our home keeps cool even on the warmest days. Eiwa Nest is a 50sqm first floor apartment in the hills 10 mins drive from Subic CBD. 5 mins to Royal Duty Free, 15 mins to airport, waterfalls and beaches. Ideal for couples and small families. Soak in the tub, Netflix and Chill, cook up a feast, read a book, hang on the hammock all day long. @thenestbythesea is a legitimate, tax paying business. SBMA Permit #1769 We designed this space to be a retreat from the hectic city life. There are several nooks to lie back and relax - read a book, write a novel, or conquer the world from your laptop. We're on the 1st floor of a newly renovated former Navy house in Kalayaan village. Street parking is available. From the car, you'll walk down the hill to the garage entrance. Our Eiwa Nest is a 1 bedroom unit. Upon entering the unit, you will find yourself in the kitchen area, which is connected to the dining area - where the TV is located. The kitchen side is equipped with ceiling fan. Careful, the fan is quite low! The air-conditioned bedroom is separated from the living room by a sliding door. Curtains can be closed for privacy. A ceiling fan is also available on the bedroom side for those who like fresh air. The Bathroom is small, but two good friends can use it at the same time, as there is a transparent glass partition that separates the shower area from the rest of the bathroom. The Kitchenette is small but functional. There's an electric stove for cooking, and a couple of pots and pans. There is a toaster and other electric appliances in the cabinet. There's a kettle and French press for your morning coffee. Subic Water is potable, and we also have a chlorine filter installed in the sink for drinking water - that's the tap on the right side. Our soaps are all eco friendly. Our counter is made of wood so it's best to keep it dry at all times. :) The refrigerator contains cold water, calamansi juice, butter, bread, and eggs for breakfast. Eiwa Nest will be your home for the entire duration of your stay. The apartment with back porch/tub area is your private space. The backyard/garden area of our home (down the hill) is off limits to guests, as is the laundry room, electrical room, and storage areas in the garage. We have 2 large poodles that live in the backyard f the main house, separate from your unit. Please make sure the sliding door at the end of the hallway is locked at all times, so the dogs don't run out to the street. Unlike a hotel, we don't have any single use items for you to take home. We use large boxes and rolls of tissues etc to limit the amount of trash we generate, and we provide several items to make your stay more comfortable. Please refrain from taking home any extra food, tissues, toiletries or other items we provide. Those items are meant to be used in the Nest and should last for several batches of guests. The kitchen is stocked with tea, bread, eggs, peanut butter, bananas, porridge, milk, coffee, cooking oil, salt, pepper, and potable water. The bread is sometimes kept in the freezer, so make sure you check in there. Help yourself to whatever you want, and leave the rest for other guests! Eiwa Nest is equipped with fiber internet. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do until the service provider sends a repair crew. Let us know if something is not working, and we'll get it looked at as soon as possible. Feel free to read from our library, but please return the books where you found them before heading home. :) We live 5 minutes from our Eiwa Nest. Feel free to call us for anything, and we'll get you sorted out. If we don't answer right away we're probably in the water, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can! Our village is home to mostly foreign residents. They are quite friendly and may approach you for a chat. Please be nice to them! We like to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours. Kalayaan is one of the residential hills in Subic Bay. The housing area was built for the American Navymen who were stationed here in the 70s, and you can see from the houses that it still somehow looks like it did back then. There is a convenience store down the hill where you can get basic necessities. For other needs, there are a few groceries and markets in Subic Bay CBD (Central Business District), about 5 minutes drive from the Eiwa Nest. Kalayaan is a great place to watch for birds, monkeys, and other wildlife. There are several beaches nearby. Our favourite beach just a short drive from the Eiwa Nest, Camayan (20 minutes drive) is a nice pet friendly beach with a restaurant. Acea Resort is just down the road from the airport ( 15 minutes drive) and they have day packages which you can avail of. For scuba diving, Subic Bay has some nice wrecks. Summer is the best time to go when the water is clearer. Let us know if you need help finding a dive shop and we'll point you in the right direction. Advanced divers only. We highly recommend a speedboat day trip to the nearby coves. The dock is just 10 minutes from the house and it's the quickest way to go see the nearby beaches. More info in our guide book :) For snorkelling and Island hopping, we recommend Zambales. Just an hour drive away, a good day trip is island hopping to Capones Island Lighthouse with a stop over at Camara Island for some snorkelling and lunch on the beach. The jump off point is Pundakit in San Antonio, Zambales. Let us know, and we'll set you up with a boat. Pundakit is also a great place to find surf from June-February. We are a 10 minute drive from Subic Bay CBD. Some attractions and beaches are difficult to access without a vehicle. We recommend you have your own car or motorcycle when staying with us! If you are commuting, there are WinStar jeeps that come by the house. They are the white transport jeeps. Those run from 9-5, and can bring you to and from town. Taxis are available 24-7. Car, Van, Jeep, and Motorcycle rentals are also available for those who prefer to drive themselves. Hali and Duke, our two poodles, live upstairs in our Tuki Nest, which we also rent on AirBNB. There's only an empty space between the upstairs floor and the downstairs ceiling, so you will hear the guests or the dogs walking around up there sometimes. Our neighbors may get loud at night. No noise is allowed past 10pm. If that happens, please let us know, so we can call the cops. We have mountain bikes available for rent at P250 per day per bike. Please message us ahead of time so we can get them ready for you. :)
