The garden rooms are stone vaulted, self contained & accessed by a private green courtyard, complete with fountain. We are a short drive from Melrose Abbey, Floors Castle & Abbotsford, home of Sir Walter Scott. The beautiful unspoilt River Leader valley is on the doorstep. Sensitively & stylishly refurbished. Romantic, unique, comfortable. Essential Scottish Borders Cost and bright, with down a flight of stairs and into a small private fountain garden, 12th - 14th century vaulted undercrofts converted into a small private sitting room and a large twin bedroom. Plus a newly installed bathroom and kitchenette dining area - all completely private to you and accessed from your own private front door into Old Wine Cellar. Underfloor heating and carefully chosen antiques add to the unique and romantic environment You will have the exclusive and private use of the fountain garden, the sitting room, the bedroom, the dining and cooking area and a large bathroom. We practice Covid secure remote access. However there is always someone available to help with any issues that might arise. You are in the centre of a large and ancient estate called Cowdenknowes. Family occupied, the main house was built in 1574 and the Old Wine Cellar is from the earlier buildings and one of the oldest part of the house. We are close to the village of Earlston with food shops, pubs and a couple of cafes. Also on the doorstep are many fabulous walks around the River Leader, up the Black Hill and beyond. Driving is best and we have freely available parking. If you’re a walker or cyclist you will enjoy the spaces - we are right on a private network of driveways and paths. Horse riding is a bookable extra in advance Sadly we can’t accommodate pets as we have our own very gentle labrador and a cat and they’re not happy when animal pals come over...
