Dan y Coed means 'under the trees'. Our cottage has nestled under the wooded hillside of Tan yr Allt for 200 years. The cottage is on the outskirts of Llanidloes, a 10 minute walk to town. We pride ourselves on guest satisfaction and the cottage is equipped to a high standard. We welcome all people and well behaved pets (downstairs). Come, enjoy the opportunity to walk, cycle, sail, fish or just relax. We are eco friendly in every way possible. Caring for the planet and guests a top priority. Dan Y Coed is a grade 2 listed building and dates back to 1800. It has been renovated with love and care for guests to enjoy. The cottage is on a moderately busy road, but thick stone walls make a safe haven. It's a 10 minute walk into the lovely market town of Llanidloes.(900m to the town centre, 250m is on a B road without a pavement. It is popular with walkers and cyclists.) Local shopping procuring locally produced food is an enjoyable experience. There are plenty of pubs and cafes to choose from in town. Perfect for walking, the woodland at the back of the garden leads onto the national trails of Glyndwr's Way and the Severn Way. Sightseeing and discovering the natural world in the Elan Valley, Clywedog Resrvoir, Hafren Forest are all within half an hour. Slightly further are the coastal towns and beaches of Aberystwyth and Aberdovey. Gardens such as Powis Castle are always a joy to visit. Walking, cycling, fishing are all possible from Dan y Coed cottage. Guests have access to the whole property - inside and out with parking. I can pop by and say hello, giving advice on all the lovely walks, places to visit and explore from the doorstep or a short drive away. All maps and walking guides are provided. Dan Y Coed is ideally located for those who want to embrace living in a small picturesque market town. The local shops almost make for a storecupboard. A daily shop at the greengrocers, fishmonger, bakers, wholefood shop, butchers and weekly Saturday market can inspire great cooking in our well equipped kitchen. We are situated on two national walking trails: Glyndwrs Way and the Severn Way. The beautiful River Severn is crossed withing two minutes of your short walk into town. Turn out of the town into the wonderful beech woodland of Tan Yr Allt. Perfect for a breath of fresh air, stretching your legs, den building with the kids or walking the dog. We provide maps and guides for a myriad of walks from the doorway of number 5. Within a short drive is the scenic Clywedog Reservoir, perfect for fishing, birdwatching (Red Kites and Osprey). Also nearby is the splendid Elan Valley, Aberystwyth for shopping, Aberdovey for the beach, Welshpool for Castles and gardens. Great little steam railways are north, south, east and west -take your pick! A driveway for one car plus parking at the front. Nearest railway station is at Caersws. National Express bus arrives daily in town. I am happy to pick up guests arriving by public transport. Be aware it's an old cottage with a few quirks: the stairs are steep/narrow and not ideal for those with mobility issues. The road is moderately busy, so please be aware if this when you book. We pride ourselves on cleanliness and in this time of Covid, now sanitise every light switch, door handle, remote control so everything is fresh and clean for new arrivals. All towels and bed linen are provided. As is wood for the fire and additional storage heaters if required. We aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We use eco products when cleaning which have not been tested on animals. We support all local businesses when supplying our property, avoiding big multinationals. Our electricity is supplied by Ecotricity. There are electric charge points available in town for EVs. Our aim is provide every guest with a lovely holiday and happy memories. The whole house and garden is available for guests to use. We live 4 miles away and are happy to help if needed. Staircase steep and narrow- use the handrail when coming down. Road can have the odd car driving by above the legal speed limit of 30mph.
