Kereru Cottage - private bach with sea view

Kereru Cottage is a delightfully quirky, cosy place to stay in the sunny Whangaparaoa peninsula, just 30 minutes from Auckland city. Situated high on a ridge looking northward out across Stanmore Bay, you will enjoy the peaceful, semi-rural setting, with a view of the sea through the trees. Kereru Cottage is a standalone building with its own driveway and garden, offering your own private space. Suitable for families with young children, couples and small groups. Come up the outside stairs and you enter Kereru Cottage through the sunny conservatory, which provides a warm and sheltered space for summer dining. Inside, find the cosy lounge, master bedroom with double bed, second bedroom with another double bed, and semi-ensuite bathroom (accessible from either bedroom). The sofa in the lounge opens to provide a third bed if required. Wi-fi internet is provided via a high speed fibre broadband connection, and there's a desk with space for a laptop. The lounge has a Smart TV with access to Netflix included, as well as broadcast Freeview HD channels. You can stream your own music or videos through the TV and Bluetooth soundbar. A heatpump/air conditioner keeps the cottage toasty warm in winter and cool in summer. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, stove, microwave, pots & pans, tea & coffee facilities, and a dishwasher. Some breakfast foods, tea/coffee, milk and basic cooking supplies are included. There is a washing machine available in the bathroom. The cottage is fully self-contained and private. Guests have exclusive use of the first floor, plus the garden and driveway/parking areas. (The ground floor is a separate space, currently unoccupied.) Your hosts live in the house next door. Your hosts Simon & Sophy live in the house next door. We'll happily help you with any questions during your stay, or respect your privacy if you prefer to keep to yourselves. Choice of beaches nearby. Pool and leisure facilities at Stanmore Bay. Shopping at Coast Plaza. Restaurants and supermarket up the road. Whangaparaoa is approximately a 1 hour drive from Auckland International Airport. Public transport in the area is limited, so having a car is essential. There is plenty of parking on the property, with enough space for a boat or large RV. - A portacot and highchair are available. - Linen (bedding and towels) is included. Native birds including tui and fantails frequent the bush around the property. If you're lucky, you might spot the namesake kererū (native woodpigeon)! Standard check-in time is after 3:00PM but we may be able to accommodate early check-in depending on whether there are other guests departing on the same date; please contact us to confirm.
