Potts Rocky Mountain Getaway

Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in the quaint, historic town of Cokedale, across from the Riley Canyon entrance of Lake Trinidad State Park, lies Potts Rocky Mountain Getaway. Off the scenic byway 'Highway of Legends' (Highway 12) and next to the Cokedale mining museum and post office, it's just 6 miles from the bustle of Trinidad with its restaurants, historic sites and shops (420 and other) and also 8 miles to Walmart in Starkville. Though Potts Rocky Mountain Getaway does have enclosed (back porch) and outdoor (back deck) designated 420 friendly areas, there are so many reasons, additionally, to stay. Nearby outdoor recreation includes hiking trails and fishing from shore or from your boat (boat launch is 2.4 miles away and there is off street boat parking on property) and animal viewing areas in the state park where you may have the opportunity to view elk, deer, antelope, bear and other wildlife, though they occasionally also come into town. The property itself has a welcoming rustic southwest lodge feel, relaxed and comfortable with lots of cool little features you won't find in any hotel. Each of the two bedrooms has a queen size bed and air conditioning in summer, electric heat in winter (there are also fans and space heaters stored in the bedroom closets, should you desire either) and though the house was built in the early 1900's, it has many conveniences of today. Cozy up by the WOOD BURNING STOVE in the livingroom and watch the CABLE T.V. or enjoy the WIFI. Lastly, the solarium with hot tub, is great to set the mood for a romantic evening, to relax in and let your tension melt away or to help soothe your aching muscles after a long hike. PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING Because several guests have seemed to have not understood this house rule, I wish to make it crystal clear that, though ALL house rules apply, in particular, there are NO PETS ALLOWED! The ONLY exception to this rule are ADA trained & certified SERVICE animals (please contact me about providing their information). The following change will take effect immediately. Should you choose to bring an animal with you, as soon as the animal is found to be on the premises, whether the moment of arrival or half way through your stay, your entire party will be asked to vacate the premises immediately and WILL NOT BE GIVEN A REFUND. Not only do my neighbors keep an eye on the property, but we have moved significantly closer so we can be here MUCH more often. I do not care whether you've traveled 2 miles or 2000 miles to get here. I do not care if your animal is 2 pounds or 200 pounds. If you wish to bring your animal on vacation, do what we do and CHOOSE A PLACE THAT ALLOWS PETS (there are several in the area). If your animal sitter cancels, CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION with us and BOOK WHERE PETS ARE ALLOWED. We do not charge a cancelation fee but, if Airbnb does, it is still less expensive than paying for a place you will be expelled from!
