Charming cottage near St Ives.....

Tucked in an idyllic sheltered valley is Bracken Cottage. It was built around 1800 for miners and is now a Grade II listed building which has been carefully renovated to keep it's original character with open beams, wooden floor and open fire ( in winter) and oil fired Aga. The cottage has its quirks and because of low ceilings and uneven entrances, it is not suitable for people with a disability. Also it is not suitable for children and I keep the cottage pet free. Beside Trencrom Hill, tucked in an idyllic sheltered valley is Bracken Cottage. It was built around 1800 for miners and is now a Grade II listed building which has been carefully renovated to keep it's original character with open beams, wooden floors and slate window sills. Outside there is a little stream that runs through the front garden and a natural spring beside the lane. The cottage sleeps two adults either separately or together. The upstairs of the cottage is light and airy, with one good-sized bedroom with a King-size luxurious memory mattress, and artisan. The bathroom is the cottage original with Victorian bath, basin and toilet, all with brass fittings. Downstairs is open plan, with a cosy living room at one end with a large inglenook fireplace with a wood burner. The kitchen is spacious with an oil fired Aga ( this will not be lit if it is hot weather) as well as an induction hob and an integrated grill/convection/microwave oven. At the back of the house is a light and warm conservatory with another large single bed that leads to a utility and wet room and another toilet. This overlooks the back private courtyard walled garden. The cottage is not suitable for children and it is kept pet free. My cottage is normally lived in so it is fully equipped with fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and washing machine, TV, DVD and WiFi facility. There is private parking for one car in front of the house. There is no smoking allowed in the cottage and, due to the abundance of wildlife (pheasants, rabbits and a woodpecker) in the garden, I do not allow pets. Sorry the cottage is not suitable for children. The owner stays next door and does the laundry change; and is available by phone to sort any problems out. Just a few miles inland from St Ives Bay where the North and South Coast almost meet, is Trencrom Hill, an Iron Age Hill Fort owned by the National Trust and surrounded by woods and gorse. Standing on it's granite outcrops give you some of the best views over West Cornwall to the North coast with it's long sandy beaches and lighthouse and the South coast's St. Michael's Mount sitting in the bay near Penzance. Newquay Airport is 40 miles away, and St Erth station is two miles away. Ideally a car is needed to see the wonders of West Cornwall. Local bus routes are a mile away. The cottage is on the St Micheal's Way which is an ancient walk between the north coast at Carbis Bay to St Micheal's Mount on the south The location is rural, with the nearest pub a mile away (a country road walk if you don't mind). Supermarkets too are in Hayle (4 miles) or Penzance (4 miles), so you do need a car. I would like guests to bring their own beach towels. Bedding etc will be provided.
