Historic cottage on a New Forest village green
The Old Bakery is a 250 year old cottage located on the village green in the beautiful New Forest village of Minstead. Formerly the bakery for the village and serving bread to villagers out of the window, it is now my beautiful family home which offers a wonderful base for any young family wishing to explore the New Forest area. I am excited to share it with you and my home is yours while you stay. You are welcome to use everything in the home and garden! The Old Bakery is a 3 bedroom home with a master bedroom and two bedrooms decorated for young children (under 10). Each room has its own shower or bath. The Old Bakery is my home but if you’re staying, it hopefully means that I’m away travelling! Even if I am not around during your stay, Katie my amazing co-host will be available to help you. The New Forest National Park is a truly beautiful location. Minstead is a picture postcard village with donkeys and ponies wondering daily on the village green. Just a few miles down away is the picturesque village of Lyndhurst, a must for any visitor, offering a wide range of shops, pubs, the New Forest Museum, tea rooms, cafes and restaurants. Locally, there are a wide number of attractions including Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary and Furzey Gardens. If you want to be active, there are lots of cycling and walking routes as well as the coast within a 25 minute drive where you can hire kayaks, paddle boards and the like. Oh, don't forget the New Forest Water Park which is also a 25 minute drive.... such fun! The area offers good road links, giving easy access to London, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth and the West Country. The nearest beach is around twenty minutes by car and the following popular places are all within easy reach of Minstead: Bournemouth (twenty minutes); Poole (thirty minutes); The Isle of Wight (short ferry journey); Lymington (twenty minutes); Southampton (twenty minutes); Salisbury (twenty minutes); Winchester (thirty minutes) and Portsmouth (forty minutes). The New Forest is pretty rural so it's best to have a car or bike. Parking is available out the front of the property or in the small car park across the road. There is plenty of room to store bikes in the main building and Lyndhurst is a 15 mins bike ride away. I'm afraid that dogs are not allowed to stay at the Old Bakery
