Gorgeous two bedroom, two bathroom cabin on the golf course at Kangaroo Valley. Just 2 hours from Sydney and a million miles from care! Rainbow Reach cabin is an original golf course cabin that we have recently renovated and extended to make beautifully spacious and livable. We have put in lots of windows so the cabin is flooded with light, and given it a luxurious country feel with white walls, comfy beds, and a fantastic sofa. The cabin has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and timber decks front and back. Essentially it's impossible not to relax somewhere! Rainbow Reach accommodates four people in comfort and style, promising you a wonderful and relaxing stay whether you are a couple, a family or small group of friends. The main bedroom has a queen sized bed and an ensuite with a freestanding bathtub, and the second bedroom has two king single beds. The living area looks through large windows to the lovely expanse of green lawn out the front and views through the Casurina fir trees to the escarpment beyond. The dining table seats six and the kitchen is fully equipped for you to do your own cooking if you like. There is reverse cycle air conditioning, a wide screen TV with DVD player, and a sound bar with bluetooth for your music. We usually leave lots of books and magazines lying about which you're welcome to take with you to finish when you leave. Outside, there is a spacious wrap-around deck at the front, with a table and chairs - perfect for breakfast in the sunshine watching the birds hop around the lawn in front. The little verandah at the back also has a sweet table with stools for an afternoon coffee. Because the decks are on opposite sides of the cabin, there is always somewhere either shady or sunny to sit, depending if it's summer or winter! The deck in front of the cabin gives directly onto the lawn, which is safely out of the way of any golfers. It's a great place for children to play or adults to laze about listening to the breeze in the casurina trees. You can see the tennis and volleyball courts from the deck, so no need to put down your coffee to supervise the children! We should mention that the cabin is pretty Lo-Fi. We deliberately decided not to have WiFi, to help us (and our guests) switch off and relax - so be warned, if you can't live without video streaming you will need to bring your own satellite dish! There is enough mobile signal to stream music however, and really with some lovely tunes, a glass of wine and a sky full of stars, who could ask for more? You will have the run of the whole cabin - we live in Sydney most of the time and you won't hear a peep out of us unless you need us. The cabin, although privately owned, is part of the Kangaroo Valley Golf and Country Resort, so you have free access to the resort facilities - a pool, tennis courts, BBQs, giant chess and volleyball - all a short stroll from the cabin. If you're into golf you can arrange it at the clubhouse, also a short level walk away. There are golf buggies you can hire to drive your golf clubs up and down all those undulating hills. If you're not into golf, don't be put off - we don't play golf and we love coming here. The golf course is beautiful to look at, and you can walk around it in the evenings when the golfers have all wandered off for a drink at the clubhouse and the kangaroos and wombats have taken over the greens. We won't be around when you arrive, but access is no problem - the keys live in a little box near the front door, and we'll give you the code for the box in the days before your arrival. If there are any problems during your stay just give us a call - we have people in the area we can call to help you in an emergency. Rainbow Reach cabin is situated in the picturesque and historic Kangaroo Valley, hidden away two hours' drive south of Sydney. The valley is mainly farmland and bushland with pockets of rainforest, surrounded by dramatic cliffs. It is very beautiful all year round, particularly at sunset when the cliffs glow in the setting sun. The valley gets its name from the mobs of Kangaroos that live there. They love the lush grass on our golf course and you can see families of kangaroos feasting on the greens in the early morning and as night falls. There are also lots of wombats trundling around on their stubby legs. They are not at all shy and often wander past the cabin at dusk. The Kangaroo Valley village is just under 4km from the golf course - 5 minutes' drive or a 10 minute cycle. It is a delightful little village offering cafes, restaurants, an historic pub with great food and an even better beer garden (with a playground for children), and homeware and gift shops. There is a large local pool for hot summer days, a woodworkers shop and a Pioneer museum. The Kangaroo River runs through the valley and is a perfect spot for picnics, swimming and kayaking. There are bushwalks round about the valley if you need to stretch your legs, and a bike path runs through the village. The ‘world's best pies' are sold a short drive up the Sydney road – try them, they really are good! Kangaroo Valley is a short drive from both the Southern Highlands and the South Coast. The delightful town of Berry is a 30 minute drive away over a spectacular mountain pass, and just beyond is Seven Mile Beach. Cambewarra mountain lookout, about a 20 minute drive along the Nowra Rd, has a café and amazing views across to Berry, the Shoalhaven River and the Nowra plains. Nowra itself has a little zoo and proper shops if you need them - including a 24-hour KMart, you never know when that will come in handy! Just beyond Nowra is beautiful Jarvis Bay. In the other direction the lovely Southern highlands towns of Bowral, Robertson and Berrima have restaurants, country pubs , gardens and shopping and are all easy driving distances away. On the way Fitzroy Falls has dramatic waterfalls and bushwalks. You absolutely need a car to come to Kangaroo Valley - there is a bus to Nowra, which goes about twice a day, but a car makes it so much easier. And the driving is fantastic in this area - lots of lovely winding country roads. Just don't get stuck behind the milk truck! Usually on long weekends we like to have our guests stay for at least 3 nights. Do ask though, especially if it is a last minute booking. I'm travelling abroad a lot at the moment, so I may not get to your reservation request right away due to time differences. But rest assured I accept most reservations, so if the calendar shows availability, I will almost certainly accept your reservation. For your actual stay, I'll give you my mum's phone number in case I'm not in town. She actually owns the cabin, so will be able to help you with anything you need.
