Stunning stone home in a medieval town
The best of both worlds. A fabulous setting within a medieval town but with the tranquility of the river and rural views at the bottom of the large garden. Walk to the bakery, restaurants, weekly market or laze away your days by the river or in front of the log burner in the lounge. An extra TV room provides entertainment for younger guests but please note that the stairs are steep. 9 Rue Notre Dame is a large detached stone home with a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room which seats a maximum of 10 (8 comfortably). The open plan lounge has a wood burner, CD player, books, board games and a TV with English satellite channels and French channels. French doors open onto the garden. We have 4 bedrooms 2 king size beds with one en suite, one queen and one twin. There are an additional 2 bathrooms and a separate toilet. The TV room with PS2, games and DVDs is up a steep staircase which, for insurance purposes, you are able to use at your own risk only. There is a double futon bed in the TV room available but you would need to bring your own linen (really only suitable for teenagers). The large garden has an enviable view of Malestroit from the deck where you will find outdoor furniture and a BBQ. The garden is huge with a lovely pollarded Hornbeam which can provide entertainment for younger guests. Our kayak can be used to explore the river in the summer, there is also the option to hire kayaks locally. Fishing at the bottom of the garden is a must. Beautiful Malestroit: A fantastic location with all the amenities of a small medieval town yet the tranquillity of a riverside setting with large garden. A wonderful spot to explore Brittany from or just simply relax. Internet is now available in the house (password will be available on arrival) and Malestroit has free wifi in town. Fishing, cycling, walking: Try your hand at fishing from the riverbank at the bottom of the garden or go for a cycle or walk along the canal and forest paths. This area is also superb for road cycling with plenty of challenging hills and sympathetic drivers! You'll have access to the ground and first floor. We keep things locked in the attic. We have a delightful couple from a management company who will be available should you require any assistance. Situated in town you'll have access to all it's amenities as well as a large garden, off road parking and the river to enjoy. The Nantes/Brest canal is between the house and town. There isn't any public transport in Malestroit. The closest train stations are Redon and Rennes. Rennes is also the closest airport with Nantes being about and hour and a half away. Super U does rent cars although, if you are happy to walk and relax, you won't really need to drive anywhere.
