WELCOME! COME AND STAY in our beautiful Edwardian home, full of character in Kingston, it is over 115 years old. Norbiton Station 7 min walk, 25 min journey to Waterloo. Kingston Hospital - 2 minutes walk away. We offer FREE PARKING* Lovely, spacious double with own private attached bathroom on top floor, all to yourself. Explore pubs, restaurants, shops, cafés, markets, Rose Theatre, Hampton Court Palace, Wimbledon Tennis, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, the river Thames and beautiful Richmond Park. Our house is a home - it is lived in and loved, quirky and unique. The room, with a very comfortable double bed, suitable for single person or a couple, is at the top of the house on 2nd floor, giving you your own space to relax in privacy. The windows on opposing sides of the room, fill the space with light, both morning and evening. The room is clean and bright with a DOUBLE bed, firm orthopaedic mattress and memory foam mattress topper (NOT 2 single beds). Ample hanging space, shelves, chest of drawers and bedside table are provided along with hairdryer, toiletries, bath towels, hand towels and facecloths. We have a powerful steam boost iron set up in another room which you can use - just ask. There is a small safe for your valuables in the bedroom for which you can set your own PIN. We are pleased to provide bottled tap water and drinking glasses for our guests. A 24in LED TV in the room is tuned for Freeview channels. A DVD player with a good selection of interesting films. Free Wifi available, very good reception (mostly). We have an attached bathroom with toilet, handbasin and shower for your private use only - all toiletries provided. We have a lovely garden in which you are very welcome to sit and relax, eat breakfast, drink tea/coffee if you wish. We have a small 2nd fridge where food and drink can be stored. Accommodation is on a room only basis and therefore the kitchen is not for general use except for preparing light refreshments/snacks, tea/coffee and for your breakfast. We have a microwave which you can use and eat meals in our kitchen if you would like. We make sure we give you space to enjoy eating and using the kitchen on your own. Your bedroom with a double bed and bathroom is on the top 2nd floor of the house, with 2 sets of stairs leading up there (32 steps). We provide hand sanitiser and anti bacterial wipes for our guests. From the little landing outside the bedroom, there is an attached bathroom (see floor plan in Photos) for your private use alone with shower gel, shampoo and other miscellaneous toiletries all provided. Towels and facecloths provided as well. We provide cleaning products and cloths in the bathroom cupboard. There are tea and coffee facilities for you to make your own drinks on landing just outside your room. We have recently had a safe installed in the room for guests to use - to store passports, valuables and cash etc. You can select your own PIN number to use. We have free guest wifi. Free Parking. We have a VERY steep drive - if you need help getting up the drive, please knock and we can come out and help you. Please park considerately so that your car does not block our car from exiting. We also have bicycles which we need to be able to get past your car - we will explain! For those with very low front clearance vehicles, there could be a problem parking on our steep drive. A very small percentage of people have had trouble in the past. Come and share a cup of tea/coffee with us in the kitchen or sit in the living room and have a chat if you want to - guests are always interesting! We have our own office at home, so one (or two of us) will be here working most of the time. We are very happy to offer advice about travel and local information if you require. In your room, we have provided hand drawn maps of the area, with some places of interest and local pubs and restaurants. Just ask if you need help! We both can speak some French and a little Spanish - enough to get by. We live on a fairly busy road and are very well situated - for either a 15 minute walk/5 minute bus ride into Kingston town centre, with all the major shops (John Lewis, Bentall Centre) and bustling market (every day) with many excellent food stalls or 7 minute walk to Norbiton Station, where you can catch a train and be in Waterloo in 25 minutes. Richmond Park, Hampton Court, Ham House, the riverside, the towpath - all are within easy reach. Many people stay with us who are visiting Kingston University - we are very close - a short bus ride away. We are incredibly close to Kingston Hospital if you need to visit friends or relatives in hospital. You can avoid heavy parking charges (with a car) if you choose to stay with us :) - FREE PARKING If you are wanting to catch Wimbledon Tennis, during June/July, it can be reached by train (25 mins) or 2 buses within approx 45 minutes. For rugby, travel to Twickenham Stadium by train and walking, will take approx 45 minutes. We have several pubs, 2 minutes down the Hill where you can enjoy lunch and dinner menus and many different restaurants in Kingston. We are 2 minutes away from Kingston Hospital. Hampton Court Flower Show in July is approx 20 minutes away by bus or train. For rugby fans, Twickenham Stadium is approx 45 minutes away, by bus and train. Or why not travel by riverboat to Richmond or Twickenham? If you would like to see nature at its best, we recommend Richmond Park where you can see deer, rabbits, birds and people :) There are many places to walk, ponds and picnic areas to enjoy, birds to feed, secluded woods to explore, tea houses and horse and bike riding available. We can provide you with a personal map including some of the interesting places we like in the Park. We have a steep drive on which it is permissible for guests to park by prior agreement with ourselves. We often have visitors, so we would advise you the best way to park on the drive to avoid blocking any other cars in. Free parking for 1 car only. Trains to Waterloo, Wimbledon, Clapham Junction, Vauxhall are very frequent, buses into Kingston, Surbiton, New Malden, Wimbledon, Twickenham, Teddington, Richmond are also very frequent. Trains to and from Gatwick and Heathrow - nearest station Clapham Junction (14 min train journey). From Kingston there is a bus which takes you to Heathrow (leave 1 hour max to get there) for the price of a single bus fare - approx. £1.50 with Oyster card or contactless travel! There are night buses which run to and from central London. Check in time is after 10am and before 9pm (if possible) - we will communicate with you before your arrival date, to find out how best to accommodate your travel plans and will make every effort to be here to welcome you at your desired arrival time. Check out time is 10am. If you need to drop off bags early (or leave them and pick up later after check-out time), we are always willing to accommodate if possible - let's talk about it! We are committed to the Enhanced Cleaning Protocol. We will provide a "help yourself" simple breakfast downstairs in our kitchen each morning - bread or rolls for toast and jam/marmite/peanut butter, muesli, granola and some fruit, herbal teas, tea and coffee. Every morning we make our breakfast and then take it up to our bedroom - leaving the kitchen free for you to enjoy your breakfast in private. Although we do not provide cooking facilities, you are welcome to use your own provisions to make sandwiches etc in the kitchen, if you want to take them out with you during the day. Please stack all plates, mugs and cutlery by the sink and we will clean them. We provide hand sanitiser and anti bacterial wipes for your use during your stay. There are also additional cleaning materials in the bathroom, under the basin. We make our own wine at home, so you may find us in the kitchen, sterilising and bottling wine! We have a tortoise in the garden, he has his own house and the run of the garden - you might see him walking on the grass in the sun. Of course, he hibernates over winter.
