The location is prime and in the City Centre. We are only 400m (5 minute walk) from the Ridge, Church or Mall Road Town Square. This is the closest parking/vehicle drop off point for Ridge and Mall Road. The area is a prime Capital/Market area that is pedestrianised, Elder/wheelchair friendly and well lit & safe 24 hours. The area is rich in Heritage buildings, old bazaars and tranquil forest walks that altogether sums-up a memorable Shimla Experience. The famous Shimla Ridge/ Church is only a 400 meters flat levelled walk through the vehicle free market. Jakhoo hill, Ropeway, State Museum, ViceRoy Lodge, and most other places of interest are easily walkable. All popular downtown places are close by: Street Food (Sita Ram 300m), Restaurants (Ashiyana 400m), Cafes (Wake n Bake 800m), Pubs(The Brew Estate 500m), all shops (Groceries, liquor store, souvenir market within 200m). This is the best part of town to explore the Shimla Town Centre and relive Past Era Shimla life: "Strolling through the bazaars and forest paths lined with oak, tall cedar trees and haunted houses while wearing thick coats and mufflers with an umbrella always in hand." This area gets more snow than any other part of Shimla during winters and is 4-5 degree cooler than most of Shimla during summers. Despite of being located in the main town the listing provides a fair amount of nature and scenery. The House is surrounded by deodar(mixed) forests of Jakhoo hill towards the East. On a clear day you get a view of the Holy Shrikhand Mahadev snow clad ranges towards the North. A variety of song birds frequent this place every morning. Once you are parked at our secure premise you can without any worries about your car access Mall Road, Jakhoo Hill and other British era attractions on foot very easily. Vehicles can easily reach our property, and this is the last point in downtown till where vehicles are allowed! No vehicles are allowed to ply on the Mall Road beyond our location. Our streets are pedestrian friendly, clean and pleasant to walk on unlike most other Indian cities. So bring along your walking shoes, this is the best location to explore the city of walks, Shimla, on foot! AVOID BOOKING TEMPO TRAVELLERS OR BUSES AS THESE VEHICLES CANNOT ENTER CORE CITY AREA DURING DAYTIME (8 AM TO 8 PM). A 500 m (5 minutes) levelled walk, towards the right, through vehicle free markets takes you to the Ridge, Christ Church, Mall Road and Jakhoo Ropeway. A 800m hike would take you to Jakhoo Hill and Hanuman Temple, which is the highest point in Shimla at 2500m and has great scenic views. Towards left, from the gate, there are peaceful, scenic but safe forest walks, where everyone can experience walking through tall dark Cedar and Oak forests. A 2 km walk down hill or a Rs 250 cab takes you to the Railway Station. For a city exit for getting to Kufri, Narkanda, Naldhera, Mashobra and beyond, you can avoid the city traffic as we are closely connected to the Sanjauli By pass Road. You can sit in your car or taxi and exit the city in less than 15 minutes. (From most other popular locations near mall road this can take upto an hour or more). Vehicle use is not recommended unless you need to visit the countryside or the outskirts of Shimla. In the old town the streets are full of people walking, and vehicle use is restricted to public vehicles only. Using private vehicles is inconvenient and unsuited to the charm of the place. Most places of interest are easily and conveniently accessible on foot or by public transport even for elders and children. This place is ideal for gentle and peaceful groups traveling with elders and children. If you are a group that needs a place to party, smoke indoors, or to be loud then we have other places perfectly ideal for you! Please contact us. This is a self service and self sufficient accommodation. Our job is to only change the beds, sanitise, clean and restock the place before every check-in. During the stay it is the guest's responsibility to maintain, restock and return the place in the same condition as was provided. We do not provide any instay services like helper, cook or 24 hour assistance. Most of our guests love to use the space and manage it on their own, while some require help. In the midst of Heritage Shimla town our property is a rare find, with drive in parking and doorstep vehicle access right in Mall Road area. Basically, this is the last point till where vehicles are allowed, beyond our location Core Mall Road area starts (no vehicle zone). Hence, this is the single best parking spot and vantage point to explore Central Oldtown Shimla and Mall Road on foot.
