Shaftesbury Glade Cottages near Manawaru Village
Self Catering Accommodation in a rural retreat, close to the Kaimai Range, only a short drive from the renowned Mineral Spas of Te Aroha and the rural towns of Matamata (world famous as Hobbiton), as well as Morrinsville. The peaceful retreat with two cottages set in a woodland oasis. Specifically designed for couples wanting that romantic getaway. Additional features include an outside bath in amongst trees with hot water from a wood fired water heater and a Swedish/Danish styled steam sauna. Two boutique cottages specially designed for couples. Surrounded by mainly deciduous trees and evergreen hedges making it a woodland oasis in a rural dairy farming area. Guests are free to wander the area of approximately one acre of trees. Approximately one acre of trees and lawn with each cottage in it's own private area. If guests require assistance, we are only too happy to help where possible. There is no public transport so this accommodation suits only people who have their own transport. At the end of 2016, work is going to start on extending the Hauraki Cycleway from Te Aroha to Matamata which will be going through Manawaru, a mere 150m from Shaftesbury Glade Cottages. City people certainly remark that it is so quiet compared to the urban environment. There are of course the sounds associated with the rural area that people will occasionally hear, eg. cows mooing, the odd barking dog, and agricultural machinery. Quality bed linen and bath towels are provided. There is a Swedish/ Danish styled steam sauna that guests are welcome to use. Instructions on how to operate are found in detached sauna building. Also very popular is an outside bath located in amongst the Red Wood Trees (nick named the Enchanted Forest) which has a wood fired water heater to provide the hot water. This needs to be fired up at least an hour before going for a bath.
