Situated within the southern edge of the Lake District National Park, Rose Cottage is set in its own grounds of 1/2 an acre of woodland. This location is the perfect base for exploring the many places of interest of the South Lakes, whether by foot, cycle, car or train. Located near Grange over Sands, just 15 minutes from the M6 and just a mile off the A590, it is also ideal for exploring further afield. The cottage has all the facilities you need and sleeps two people comfortably. A very peaceful location and of immense external character, with limestone walls and an attractive slate roof, the 100 year old cottage has been tastefully modernised internally and combines all that is needed for perfectly relaxed holiday living. The cottage boasts a pleasant and secluded al fresco eating area with an all weather barbecue. Close by – a pub serving food (60 yards - hidden away though the woods!), woodland and coastal walks, Cumbria Cycle Way, the nearby Netherwood Hotel with its indoor jacuzzis or the Grange hotel withan indoor pool and the facilities of the Edwardian coastal resort of Grange over Sands, which include many specialist shops, promenade and train station. Get up early and there is a good chance you will see one or more of the deer that pass through the grounds. Barn owls, woodpeckers, jays, nut hatches are among the numerous types of birds that are frequent visitors- especially if you leave out some food - watch the squirrels don't eat it first though! The cottage is self contained and available solely for the party that has booked it. There are 2 steps from the lounge to the sleeping area and 2 steps in the bathroom. The front door also has a step from the path. Guest are encouraged to telephone or email the hosts when they are staying if they need help or advice. We would rather hear from them before or during their stay. Meathop is located in the southern part of the Lake District, near the coast at Grange over Sands. Just off the A590 and 15 minutes to the shore of Windermere. There is a woodland belonging to the cottage and a nearby hotel serving food called The Woodlands. The nearest shop is on the caravan park, down the drive from the hotel and there are food, clothes and book shops in Grange, as well a a beautiful train station and a long promenade . A car is advised as it is in a rural location, with public transport 3 miles away. There is one car parking space adjacent to the cottage. The cottage is on the Cumbria Cycleway, set up in 1980. The cottage may not be suitable for people with physical disabilities due to the internal steps. Please also note, there is an air spa bath, but not a shower at Rose Cottage.
