1800s former mine captains cottage in Cornwall
Built-in the eighteen hundreds the property has been modernised to accommodate open plan living providing two large living spaces ideal for socialising on a breakaway. The four large bedrooms can easily accommodate 8 people with the option to use the lounge for an additional three. Outside offers off-road parking for up to 4 cars and a private garden at the rear with decking and a BBQ area. Ideally located, 15 minutes away: Falmouth on the south coast and Portreath on the north coast. The lounge has a magnificent fireplace that would otherwise overwhelm many rooms, what was once two rooms is now one large space large enough to accommodate all guests in one space. The kitchen is open plan with the dining room allowing the chef to socialise with the party. The dining room has a period open fireplace and a dining table that can be expanded for larger parties (We have been able to seat more than ten guests on big occasions - but it was a bit of a squeeze!) Bedroom two, although the smallest can comfortably take a king-size bed (currently with bunk beds), bedrooms one and four have super king beds, whilst bedroom three has a double. The bathroom has just had a new cubicle and shower fitted and been refurbished along with the separate WC. At the rear of the property is a newly replaced decking with BBQ and Chiminea, ideal for those late summer evenings with a glass of wine. Off-road parking for up to 4 cars, probably 3 comfortably but 2 can also park on the road if you don't mind blocking each other in. Buses run daily between Falmouth and Redruth up until about 11 pm, with the bus stop just a short walk away. Cycle routes also not far away as well as many footpaths and bridle ways. You have full access to our home, no rooms are closed off, we will store anything private or of particular importance elsewhere. You are welcome to use anything. If you need assistance we can be available or we will at least make someone available to you. The village has the following amenities and are just a short walk away from our home... 30m - Children's play area and park 100m - Bakery 300m - Fish and Chip shop 250m - Petrol station with Spar shop 300m - The Coppice Inn (under new management may do pub grub, large beer garden) 450m - The Lanner Inn (pub with beer small beer garden) 450m - Lanner store (Village shop) 1 mile - The Fox and Hounds (pub with restaurant) 1.2 miles - GQ Chinese Takeaway Redruth is the closest town, with a variety of mainstream and independent shops including supermarkets as well as a variety of takeaways. Beaches are but a short drive away, Portreath on the north coast and Falmouth on the south coast both just 15 minutes. We particularly like Falmouth town for the shops but more so for the pubs and restaurants and the general ambience for a perfect evening out. Lanner has many bridleways and footpaths with spectacular views from Carn-Marth with an old quarry converted into an amphitheatre (great for picnics), an intact engine house nearby and the old tramway to explore. Further afield, but still in walking distance is St Day where you can visit the Gwenapp pit and the ruins Church or Redruth town, both about 45 minutes walk. If cycling is your thing there are numerous routes, with the 2 closest being the Bissoe trail and the Great Flat Lode. A regular bus service is run between Redruth and Falmouth stopping at Lanner not too far from the house until about 11 pm. An electric car charger is available at an additional charge. Although the house will be scrupulously cleaned before your visit you should note that we do have a dog, she will be with us of course during your stay, but people with allergies could still be affected.
