Spacious Waterfront Cottage
This charming old sea captain's house sits on a hill overlooking Johnson Bay - a salt water tidal cove. You will be able to enjoy the six acre property with private access to the water. The house has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. A futon in the private sitting room sleeps an additional two people. Enjoy blueberry picking on the property and relax in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the cove. The nearby village of Lubec offers many restaurants and activities. Great hiking nearby. Bedroom 1: at the top left of the stairs is a bedroom with a queen bed and a dresser. Beautiful cove views from the window. Bedroom 2: At the top right of the stairs is a bedroom with two twin beds, a closet, and a dresser. This space is perfect for kids. You must walk through this bedroom to get to bedroom three. Bedroom 3: You must walk through bedroom two to get to bedroom three. There is a queen bed, a mini crib, a closet, and a dresser. There is an en suite bathroom with a shower. Downstairs, enjoy the views from the lovely sitting room. This room has a double futon and a daybed that can function as additional sleeping space. There is a door that can be closed for privacy. There is a full bathroom with tub and shower off of the dining room. The kitchen and dining room both have working wood stoves to heat the house on a chilly night. There is a washing machine in the kitchen and a clothesline outside so you can do laundry while here. You will have six, quiet, beautiful acres that offer direct access to the water for your enjoyment. Take a stroll down to the shore to see the water at high tide, or take a walk on the quiet paths through the meadows. The Adirondack chairs overlooking the cove are a wonderful spot to read or have a cup of coffee. You will enjoy access to the whole house. Multiple cars can be parked on the grass situated to the right as the driveway ends - across from the steps leading up to the house. We can be reached by phone or e-mail during your stay. Lubec is a quiet historic fishing village. This is a wonderful place to rest and recharge. There are many hiking trails of various difficulties nearby - we love the Green Point trail at Quoddy State Park, as well as the Bold Coast Trail. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world, and offers many views of sea life (seagulls, seals, bald eagles, whales). Enjoy nearby restaurants, or cook a fresh seafood meal at home. The Water Street Tavern, the Inn on the Wharf, Cohill's, and HD and Sons Seafood - The Shore Thing are delicious, local restaurants. Monica's Chocolate and Love at First Light are great places to stop for a sweet treat! Nearby Campobello Island, in New Brunswick, Canada, has several hikes, restaurants, a golf course, beautiful rocky beaches, whale watches, East Quoddy Lighthouse, and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Cottage. Borders to Canada are currently closed, due to COVID-19. Eastport is a quick water ferry trip away (or a 45 minute drive) and offers more restaurants and gift shops. You will need a car to access the many sights in the area.
