Myosotis (Forget-me-not)

We are set in the heart of our small village surrounded by vines & fields of sunflowers. Myosotis is a charming, cosy one bedroom gîte with exposed timbers in the ground floor living area with adjacent fullly fitted kitchen. At first floor level is the bedroom with an exposed stone wall and en suite bathroom. There is a private terrace outside and a communal garden with a swing and slide combo, games and our large heated salt water swimming pool, open mid May to mid Sept. We have created a small complex of four fully furnished, self contained and self catering gîtes. All of our gîtes and our facilities have been classified as 3 star Meublé de Tourisme. We have the ability to accommodate 21 people. All of our properties are fully insulated and have electric radiators in all rooms. Myosotis is a one bedroomed gite (double bed). It has exposed timberwork at ground fl;oor level and an exposed stone wall in the bedroom. It has a lovely warm cosy feel and plenty of character. This gîte was originally within the vigneron's (wine grower) family home. There is a private terrace to the side of the gîte with a dining table, chairs and BBQ. Our properties are child friendly you can reserve, at no cost at the time of booking, a travel cot (no linen provided), stair-gate, high chair, bedroom night-light, baby bath or potty. These include a heated swimming pool (11m x 5m), laundry, library with a collection of DVDs, French and English books and tourist information. Indoor games room with table football, table tennis, board games and games for the garden. We also have a large covered and secure toddler's play area in the garden with a ball tent, swing, slide, colouring desk etc. We also have a magnificent Grande Salle (function room). This former Chai (wine storage barn) measures approximately 88m2 and is an adaptable space. It can be hired for a multitude of events such as receptions, exhibitions, exercise classes etc. We can arrange catering for large parties. It can also be used for small business meetings, seminars or conferences with additional indoor and outdoor breakout areas. We have a 2.1 x 1.3m mobile whiteboard with integrated projector. Free Wi-fi is available throughout the property and each gîte has a hardwire ethernet connection. In the garden we have a study swing and slide combination, boule track, various games, picnic tables and chairs. We have a selection of tourist information leaflets in our library and are able to offer guidance and advice on local sites. Please note that we are required to collect a Taxe de Sejour (Tourist tax) from you, when you arrive. This is equates to (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) % tax!) per night per adult (18+ yrs old). Payment can be made to us either by a cheque, made payable to "Trésor Public", or in cash. We are located in a small village on the outskirts of the medieval town Pons, which is 6 kms away. There are no shops in our village. However there is an award winning bakery 3 kms away (bread, croissants and cakes to die for!" There are all the usual shops and supermarkets available in Pons. Our village is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and vines, which provide the grapes for the cognac houses and Pineau des Charentes, the local aperitif. There a four producers in our village. We are only 40 minutes from the coast with its long, safe, sandy beaches. Three main towns of interest are all with in 25 minutes, they are Cognac, Saintes and Jonzac. Bordeaux and La Rochelle are around an hour away. The main Autoroute is the A10. There are two exits to reach us. If you are coming from the north then you will need exit 35 at Saintes. From the south you will need exit 36 at Pons. The closest airports are at Bordeaux (1:15 hours away) and La Rochelle (1:00 hour away). There is a train station in Pons with links to La Rochelle and Bordeaux. The TGV stops at Angoulême (1 hour away) and there is a new line to Bordeaux due to open in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) We have parking on site for each gîte. If you come to stay you must be ready to relax, refresh and enjoy the Charentais sunshine accompanied by local wines, cognac and aperitifs! Our minimum booking period is 3 days but during the peak season of July and August the minimum period is 7 days with Saturday being the change-over day.
