Enjoy a delicious meal at the Snug Tavern or Phoenix Chinese Restaurant. Stroll along peaceful Snug River and Snug Beach where you can observe the local birds and wildlife as well as uninterurrupted views of North West Bay and Bruny Island. Make use of the free beachside BBQ’s and Tennis Court or pack a picnic and cross the footbridge to the sandstone cliffs and enjoy the vista. If you love discovering waterfalls, then Snug Falls is a local, easy-medium walk located a short drive inland. This is a fully self-contained home with its own private entrance. We live in the house next door. The driveway only is shared. We like to give guests privacy and leave them to do their own thing, but we are always contactable if needed. Snug Retreat is a convenient and delightful base for experiencing Tassie at its finest. There is so much to do exploring Hobart, the D’Encastreax Channel and Huon regions! Situated just 10 mins from Kettering, grab a coffee to-go at Steam House and don’t forget to sample the award-winning hand made chocolates at NutPatch. At Kettering Marina you can enjoy coffee or a tasty breakfast at the cafe before easily driving onto the ferry and taking a day trip to stunning, world-renowned Bruny Island. Head 15mins north of Snug and arrive at Kingston Beach with it’s pretty cafe strip and Allum Cliffs walk. Check out the Channel Heritage Museum in Margate for a historical look at the channel area. Visit beautiful nearby Coningham Beach with it’s iconic Boat Houses. Take a day to leisurely drive the Huon Trail: a loop that takes in the D’Entrecasteaux Channel area, Cygnet, the Huon Valley and Port Huon. You won’t be disappointed with historic townships, breathtaking scenery and gourmet Tasmanian food, wine and cider to sample along the way. A mere 25-30min drive south of Hobart, Snug is a coastal town centrally located with everything local within walking distance. To get here, exit Hobart on the Southern Outlet and follow it to the end of the Kingston Bypass. At the big ‘Fork in the Road’ round-about, take the fourth exit heading south onto Channel Hwy. You will pass the turn off for Howden, drive through Margate and Electrona and then arrive in Snug. There are excellent maps and brochures provided in your accomodation to assist you in your explorations of this beautiful region of Tasmania. Please Note: If you are looking for more of an inner-city base then perhaps Snug Retreat isn’t for you. Please take into consideration the suggested driving time and directions. As with many locations in Tassie, getting from point A to B is not always as fast or direct as some may think. Though it may seem an obvious suggestion to most travellers, we would suggest that you look up the Hobart Airport, Hobart City and Snug and where they are in relation to each other on the maps app on your device and then plan your trip accordingly. Please note that Snug Retreat is not a place for parties, weddings or group gatherings. If that is the occasion for you, then please do not book. Snug Beach is a short walk away, however the villa has no water/beach views - the photos are accurate.
