Pakiri Paradise on the ridge

Sit in the spa pool enjoying breathtaking views of Matakana valley in complete seclusion as the sun sets and the stars appear in the dark sky around you. Dine in nearby Leigh (15 min), or Matakana (30 minutes). Visit Goat Is or Pakiri beach. We are just 11/4 hours from Auckland. Our guest suite is a separate wing with its own deck and cool bathroom, flat screen TV, WIFI, tea & coffee making facilities, toaster, and fridge. For colder weather the bed is fitted with an electric blanket and there is a heat pump for added coziness. Netflix fans can plug their Chromecast into the TV . (ask for extension) Double glazing keeps the heat in year round. This space has also been geopathically assessed and given full marks for good energy! Our sky is very dark which means the Milky way directly above can be seen clearly. On the day you arrive, we recommend you grab a bite to eat in (or takeaway) at Leigh on your way to our place. We are a little isolated and you may not feel like going out again. A self service continental breakfast of cereals, fruit, yogurt, bread and spreads is provided. Off street parking is provided. Guest suite has its own deck and outdoor furniture. Feel Free to explore our property and venture into the forest if you wish. A portable BBQ can be made available on request . We are happy to give advice and assistance if needed. In the room there are brochures and a list of nearby amenities, attractions and instructions on how to use facilities but otherwise we will leave you in complete privacy. We assume you will want to use spa so it will be available for your use. We are 5 km along an unsealed road so this area is quiet and peaceful and offers a perfect break for anyone wanting an escape. There are two walking tracks next to the house which take you to Mt Tamahunga or Pakiri village. Mt Tamahunga is on the Te Araroa (Long Pathway) the length of New Zealand. A new walking and cycling track called Big Omaha Trail is 28 km long and goes from Matakana to Pakiri and best section is down the road from us. We have our own micro- climate here in the hills and it can get chilly and windy as well as sunny and calm. There are also wild animals and we are trapping possums and rabbits. Birds love it here (Tui, Fantail Wood pigeon (Keruru) Swallows, Hawks ,Shining Cuckoos, Turkeys, Pheasants, Quail, Finches) Cattle and sheep frequently leave their fenced paddocks and wander along the road...all of which adds to the magic of this experience. Places to visit include Pakiri beach, Leigh village (eateries are the famous Sawmill Cafe, Sawmill Brewery (just north of Matakana) Leigh Eats or Leigh Bar) picturesque fishing wharf, Goat Island Marine Reserve and Matheson's Bay for swimming and snorkeling. Just thirty minutes away, Matakana has the famous Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, cinemas, vineyards and several (breakfast and dinner) cafes and restaurants. You will need to drive around this area as there is no public transport and we are at the very end of a 5 km unsealed road. If you want isolation, this is your dream place. We are 5 km along an unsealed road and you will see more animals than people. Nearest food is 10 minutes away in Leigh. (so we advise you eat there on way up) Nearest is the famous Leigh Sawmill who do fabulous breakfasts/ brunches from 10.00am as well as dinners most nights. (check reduced hours in winter) Leigh Eats also has breakfasts and great fish and chip/grill choices for lunch or dinner but note they close at 5.00pm. Leigh bar nearby also serves food and alcohol in the summer season and is open Mondays and Tuesdays + weekends in winter.
