Charming farmhouse and romantic gite with pool

Stunning farmhouse dating back to the 17th century but packed with modern features and curios and our charming and unique bijou gite for two next door.Peace and tranquility in abundance yet only a few minutes walk from a fabulous bar/restaurant.Lots of space indoors and outdoors to enjoy this beautiful part of France.This area offers something for everyone! Inside the main house: Full of character with all those home from home comforts. Large comfortably furnished open plan luxurious living area with traditional open fireplace and bread oven. The kitchen is fully equipped with a double oven. There is also a separate dining table and a lounging area with tv, dvd player and i-pod dock. Also downstairs are two large double bedrooms and a large bathroom with bath and shower. Upstairs, you will find two large double bedrooms, a smaller bedroom with large single (which could sleep two children), a shower room and a stunning lounge area with original stone walls and beams. All double bedrooms are tastefully furnished with authentic french country furniture as is the rest of the house. There is also a travel cot available for your use. The house is centrally heated and with the open fireplace, this provides a warm, cosy atmosphere for winter lets. Inside the gite (“Le Cledier” which means chestnut house): This is small but perfectly formed.Le Cledier has a beautiful stone interior with a lovely mezzanine bedroom. It truly is unique and while we describe it as bijou, it has everything you need which includes a cosy lounge with wood burning stove,comfortable seating,dining area and TV as well as a double bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen and large shower room. Outside Surrounded by grounds of two acres with stunning views of open countryside,chestnut forests and a lake. Private and exclusive use of of all surrounding land as well as the above ground pool in the warmer months.The pool,decked area and a large entertaining space can be found within the huge stone walls of what used to be a barn.This is a sun trap and has a lovely eating area which has beautiful outside lighting for evenings outdoors.You will find a few outdoor tables and plenty of garden furniture including sun loungers for your use. You are also lucky enough to have walking and cycling routes at the end of the drive. At night time, experience the clearest starry nights you can imagine and listen to the owls in the nearby forest. The whole house,the whole gite and about two acres of land including the recently converted open barn with above ground pool.There is plenty of room for everyone! While we no longer reside in France, we are always available to contact during your stay and we will provide details of our local contacts who are able to offer recommendations and help throughout your stay. The house is situated on the border of Limousin, Dordogne and Charente. The nearest large city with airport and train station is Limoges which is about 45 minutes away by car. There are hundreds of lakes in this region, several of which have beaches and water sports. The area is often called the french Lake District due to the number of lakes and lush, green countryside. As the house is in rural France, the easiest way to get around is by car. Good company is all you need to have a wonderful break here!
