Sleep in country house comfort. Double bed-sit.
This flat in the top of our old family home, dating from 1733, has great character and many historic connections. It has its own entrance through a courtyard garden furnished with outdoor tables and chairs for your use. The large south-facing bed-sitting room has a view of fields and trees. There is antique furniture as well as comfortable modern armchairs and a wood-burning stove. Portraits hang on the walls. The bathroom has an enormous tub and the ground-floor kitchen has underfloor heating. The self-contained flat is non-smoking. We cannot accommodate children because of the antique furnishings. Dogs may sleep in parked cars and be walked on leads but are not welcome indoors. The steep stairs are unsuitable for elderly or disabled people. There is a lock-box for independent access and we provide basic breakfast items. You are welcome to walk anywhere on the estate, into the 500 hectare forest and in the walled garden. However, dogs will need to be kept on leads because of the sheep on the grass parks. Self check-in using a lock-box. This is a small country estate with a walled garden and woodland walks. It is very quiet and secluded but yet only 20 miles from Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling and St Andrews. Kinross is a pleasant small town with good coffee shops and places to eat. There is a walking/cycling trail all the way round Loch Leven, a nature reserve, which incorporates RSPB-run Vane Farm. A ferry over to Castle Island, once the prison of Mary, Queen of Scots, operates in the summer months. You will need a car to reach us but there is a good Express bus service to Edinburgh or Perth through Kelty, our nearest small town. The self-contained flat is offered to 2 guests on the website but an additional 2 guests can be accommodated in the adjoining twin bedroom at a supplementary cost of £80 per night. As well as the bathroom with a tub, there is a separate shower room for your use.
