Hilltop Winehouse with Beautiful Views

Off-grid Winehouse at the top of 'Little Mountain' in Pakod with large garden, sweet air, walnut trees, hilltop views, beautiful sunsets and dark skies. Sleeps 3 people in two bedrooms. The property has its own little wood which is home to owls, woodpeckers, hoopoe, buzzards, bunting, nuthatches and even occasional deer and wild boar. The Szőlőhegyi tanösvény Zalabér-Pakod-Dötk network of local walking and mountain biking trails is right outside the door. The south-facing property is very old and rustic, made from traditional loam and straw. The porch and garden offer great views, sunsets and dark skies for stargazers. Every main room in the house has a wood-burner that can also be used to heat water, drinks etc and there is a good-sized kitchen with a range, fridge and dining table. There is an old-fashioned washing machine and spin-dryer and a drying rack above one of the wood-burners. There is also a small electric hob for warmer weather. The garden has a wood oven for cooking and a cellar to store bikes etc. An initial supply of wood is included in the price. The property has electricity but NO running water, Wifi or TV. There is a rainwater collection tank and potable water is available from the village pump at the bottom of the hill. The shower is 'army style'. If you want to escape from modern life and go back to a simpler time surrounded by nature it is a magical place. There is ample parking on the property and mountain biking/walking trails start on the doorstep. Bus stop 'Borbashegy' at the bottom of the hill in Pakod goes to Zalaegersweg or Zalaszentgrot. There is also a train station in the village. Lake Balaton can be reached by bus from Zalaber in 52m or in about 40 minutes by car. Budapest is 2 h 46m by train from Zalaber (5 minutes away). Price 4 300 Ft or about £10. Budapest by car is 2h 20m.. The accommodation is perched at the top of a hill above Pakod village in the gentle rolling hills of Zala county. It is generally a quiet area with beautiful views, many vineyards and plenty of flora and fauna for nature lovers. Things to see and do nearby, include St Groth Thermal Bath at Zalaszentgrot (10 mins); therapeutic waters of Lake Heviz (30 mins) and of course, Lake Balaton (35 mins) central Europe's largest lake with swimming, fishing and watersports.
