Authentic Mongolian yurt in the middle of the beautiful Devon countryside that prides itself in being in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. The yurt is nestled in Oak Woodland, beside a stream and close to a footpath leading into the charming town of Colyton. Seating & barbecue area offer a perfect spot for enjoying the peace & quiet and beauty of the countryside. Exclusive use of flushing toilet, shower & sink provides luxury & an outside kitchen makes your stay easy and comfortable. The yurt has a king size bed, double sofa bed, wood stove and 2 arm chairs. It has been tastefully decorated to fit in with the authentic Mongolian theme. The outdoor space has a seating and cooking area plus outdoor kitchen. There is also a bathroom with sink, large shower and flushing toilet just a few steps from the entrance to the yurt. The parking area is situated on the farm. It’s a good ten minute walk from their to the site along a farm track. This can become muddy when wet. From the yurt you can access public footpaths easily. You are far away from any houses so get true privacy. We live in a stone bungalow on the farm. We will provide our mobile phone numbers and will always be available if needed. You will be situated in the middle of fields so you will be able to experience true tranquility. Colcombe Abbey Farm itself is in an area of national outstanding beauty situated between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. A short walk will take you to the tramway where you can get a tram alongside the river Axe to Seaton, the gateway to the Jurassic coast which is famous for fossil hunting. The area offers some remarkable food including the well known River Cottage which is a 10 minute drive away. Colyton is steeped in history originally being a Saxon town. It has the reputation of being England's most rebellious town dating back to the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. The pretty villages of Colyford, Southleigh, Northleigh and Farway lie nestled in the heart of the Coly Valley nearby. The quaint fishing village of Beer, the famous Cob at Lyme Regis, the Georgian resort of Sidmouth are all on the doorstep. A 40 minute drive away is the stunning Cathedral in Exeter. The nearest train station is in Axminster which is a 10 minute drive away. The nearest airport is Exeter airport which is half an hour drive away. In Colyton there are two corner shops, a post office, pubs and a fish and chip shop. The nearest supermarket is Tesco in Seton which is 10 minute drive away. There is an Aldi and Lidl in Honiton which is a twenty drive away. Please bring wellie boots as the farm track from the parking space to the yurt can become very muddy when wet. The yurt has clean running water. There is a kitchen sink, shower, bathroom sink, flushing toilet and outside tap. Unfortunately, the water is not drinkable but we will provide you with drinking water. There is solar power but this is only powerful enough to provide lighting and to charge phones.
