Peacefully situated on the edge of village, with far reaching views over vineyards to the Corbières hills, this spacious detached villa has private south facing terraces, pool and barbeque for dining and sunbathing. 30min drive to beautiful beaches. The villa is well situated, being set on the edge of a peaceful rural french village right in the heart of the Corbieres wine growing region. It is only a short drive to a range of stunning Mediterranean beaches and within easy reach of Carcasonne, Narbonne, the Cathar castles and Perpignan. The villa is set over two floors with one bathroom and bedroom on the ground floor and the remaining bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs. It can easily accommodate just two guests, or up to 10 (plus an additional 3 children in cots), making it the perfect getaway and great value for an extended family, or even two families to share. Accommodation: 5 large bedrooms (one on ground floor), 2 bathrooms. Fully equipped kitchen and dining with dishwasher, microwave, gas cooker, washing machine, Senso coffee machine and standard filter coffee machine and French doors to patio. Spacious lounge with access to WiFi, TV, DVD and Hi-Fi. Basement games room with darts board, table tennis and many childrens toys, books and games to enjoy. Two washing machines are also located in the basement for your convenience. Catherine is our local manager for the villa who lives close by for any assistance you require. Speaking 5 different European languages, you shouldn't have too many problems conversing. In addition to the details available in the villa Catherine will be more than happy to give you hints and tips places to go or eat. Even though Aude is served by some great local airports such as Carcassone, Perpignan and more recently Beziers; it remains a relatively undiscovered and charming destination in southern France. Sample the high life in the nearest Michelin-starred restaurant just 17kms away; or eat more modestly at any of the great local cafes and restaurants. For the adventurous and sporty there is white water rafting, gorge canyoning, rock climbing and many many peaceful roads for road or mounting biking within an hours drive of the villa. For lovers of the water, head down to the areas in and around Bages and Port La Nouvelle for kayaking, sailing and fishing pursuits. And for stunning scenic drives and beautiful historic towns and villages - head further inland to places like Carcassone, Lagrasse, Millau Viaduct, Gorges du Tarn and our own personal favourite - a tour of the Cathar castles such as Perepetuse and Queribus, just 30-45 mins away. You will need to hire a car to stay in St Jean. Taxis can be hired locally, should you wish to leave the car at home for an evening out. The high-speed TGV now runs to Barcelona. Its a breeze getting there in around 1 hour 30 mins from either Perpignan or Narbonne. Linen (sheets, pillowcases, towels etc) are available on request (for an additional fee). There are no permanent shops within the village, however you will find vendors set up stalls in the market place each day selling produce such as seasonal fruit and vegetables as well as fish.
