Traditional Welsh Farmhouse 2 bdrms- sleeps 5
Ty Newydd (House New) is a traditional Welsh farmhouse built in the 1840s that retains many of its original features but has all the comforts of modern day living, including a light, airy conservatory. There is a large garden in which to relax or for children to play. It is quiet and secluded and has wonderful views of the sea and mountains. As a sheep farm, it is busy at certain times of the year. The White Lion Inn is a 15 minute stroll away and has great food and atmosphere. Two comfortable bedrooms - bedroom 1 has 3 single beds (two of which can be joined together to make a super king size). It has a spacious bathroom next door (wall too thick to make an adjoining door). Bedroom 2 has a double bed. and an ensuite shower-room. Both rooms have recently been redecorated. The kitchen, utility room, dining room, conservatory and large garden are available for guests and shared with us. There is a toilet downstairs. The garden is large with room for children to run around and I have a selection of games. Guests may use the whole house except for the parlour which is for the family. Although it is 'bed and breakfast' guests are welcome to stay around and enjoy the house and garden. Please let me know if you would like to use our cooking facilities. Although we are not self-catering, I am happy for guests to heat food and cook light meals - particularly when there are children. There is a separate fridge for the use of guests. Tea/coffee, milk and sugar are always available as are toast/croissants/cereal for breakfast. For an additional charge (£6.50), I can cook you a full Welsh breakfast. Guests may eat in the conservatory, outside or in the dining room. No food or eating in the bedrooms please. With permission, guests may go for a walk up our fields where there are magnificent views of Snowdonia. In the evening relax, enjoy a glass of wine/beer/hot drink in the conservatory overlooking the garden or outside and looking up at the stars. No light pollution whatsoever. There is plenty of space for parking. The White Lion Inn is in the village - a 15 min stroll along country lanes. It serves good food and has a great atmosphere. Booking essential. Interaction can be as little or as much as you want. My partner and I live at the property but do spend time away travelling or working. As mentioned, my brother Clwyd is around and also my sister Menna who comes to look after her horse. I hope you find it a a home from home experience, as is the essence of Airbnb, We are located amongst fields, rolling hills and narrow lanes. We are a 5 minute drive or 15 mins stroll from the village of Llanelian where The White Lion serves delicious food and has a lively programme of events from ukulele bands to Welsh hymn singing (pre-Covid). You are assured a warm welcome -mention my name to Simon and Nina and you'll get an even warmer welcome! We are 30 mins drive from the edges of Snowdonia National Park - known as Eryri in Welsh. Another 20 mins will take you to Snowdon - Yr Wyddfa. Colwyn Bay has a wonderful sandy beach and in 15 minutes and yo're in Conwy or Llandudno. For the energetic, there is Zip world, Surf Snowdonia and mountain walking or the more leisurely Bodnant Gardens and the beaches of Anglesey. There is so much to do. You need a car. However, if you like walking , it is possible to walk to Old Colwyn or Colwyn Bay in about 45 mins (all downhill). There is a lovely promenade and beautiful sandy beach in Colwyn Bay. Although it is hilly, cycling is great in good weather! There is a railway station in Colwyn Bay and a taxi service. Ty Newydd is a working sheep farm and can be busy at certain times of year (mainly Feb/March). Shearing in June. Some areas are out of bounds. My brother, Clwyd, is the farmer and is here every day. After milking 300 cows on a nearby farm, he comes into the kitchen for his breakfast and lunch and during lambing (February -March) may use the utility room to prepare milk for the lambs. Please do not roam the fields without permission.
