Yvon is a Volkswagen Campervan w/ aircon, for 2 guests. Located in the garden of our Subic Rainforest Retreat, guests have access to our garden shed, which contains a kitchenette and living room under a mango tree. The bathroom is located 20 meters from Yvon. Ideal for people who can live with insects and monkeys, Yvon is not for everyone! Yvon is a creation of @islandview.kombi and the grounds are designed and hosted by @thenestbythesea: a legitimate, tax paying business. SBMA Permit #1769 The interior of Yvon is cozy. There is a small electric fan to keep you cool at night, and screens to keep the insects away. Yvon is parked in the garden of our Subic Rainforest Retreat (SRR Nests), and is located next to a work shed which doubles as a covered living space, work space, and dining area. The shed has a hammock, a kitchenette, and ample lighting. There are no screens here, so if you don’t like insects and animals, this is not the place for you! The mango tree above hosts the usual array of ants, mosquitos, and spiders, and monkeys love to hang around here in the daytime. Though we provide an outdoor sink and grill, it might be challenging to cook food with the monkeys around. Consider yourselves warned! Yvon guests have access to our carport bathroom, which has a hot water shower, and is newly renovated. The carport bathroom is 20 meters walk from where Yvon is parked. Yvon guests have access to the side garden, The Shed, and carport bathroom. The side garden has some edible vegetables, please help yourself to any you can consume while you are staying in our home. Always check a plant identifier app if you are unsure of what the plant is, as some plants tend to look alike, and not all are edible. The Shed has a counter and appliances for cooking up a decent meal. A small refrigerator can be found under the counter, and the sink is outside under the mango tree. The Shed has a hammock and a couple of tables and benches for working and eating. Unlike a hotel, we don't have any single use items for you to take home. We use large boxes and rolls of tissues etc to limit the amount of trash we generate, and we provide several items to make your stay more comfortable. Please refrain from taking home any extra food, tissues, toiletries or other items we provide. Those items are meant to be used in the Nest and should last for several batches of guests. This Nest is equipped with fiber internet. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do until the service provider sends a repair crew. Let us know if something is not working, and we'll get it looked at as soon as possible. We live 20 minutes from Subic Rainforest Retreat, but Jhing or Violy, our helpers, live in the house. If they are unable to help you, please feel free to call us for anything, and we'll get you sorted out. If we don't answer right away we're probably in the water, but we'll get back to you as soon as we can! Our village is home to mostly foreign residents. They are quite friendly and may approach you for a chat. Please be nice to them! We like to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours. Cubi is one of the residential hills in Subic Bay. It's overlooking the water and it's a nice place to walk around to watch the sun set on The Bay. There are a couple of convenience stores nearby where you can get simple meals and basic necessities. For other needs, there are a few groceries and markets in Subic Bay CBD (Central Business District), about 15 minutes drive from our Saya Nest. Cubi is also a great place to watch for birds, bats, monkeys and other wildlife. Bat Kingdom is just a 4-minute walk down the road from our SRR Nest. It's best to go just before sunset to watch the bats from the roadside. Bring a hat to protect your head from bat droppings! For the adventure seekers, there is a nearby waterfall that is about 20 mins hike from the apartment (go to Pamulaklakin or El Kabayo for a guide to the nearest falls, or book an AirBNB experience with us). You can explore Cubi on our bamboo bicycles for a rental fee of P250/bike/day. We have some bikes available. There are several beaches nearby. Our favourite beach just a short drive from our SRR Nests, Camayan (15 minutes drive) is a nice beach with a restaurant. Acea Resort is just down the road (10 minutes walk or 1 min drive) and they have day packages which you can avail of. For scuba diving, Subic Bay has some nice wrecks. Let us know if you need help finding a dive shop and we'll point you in the right direction. Advanced divers only. We highly recommend a speedboat day trip to the nearby coves, or a Sunset Bay cruise. The dock is just 10 minutes from the house and it's the quickest way to go see the nearby coves. More info in our guide book on the AirBNB app :) For snorkelling and Island hopping, we recommend Zambales. Just an hour drive away, a good day trip is island hopping to Capones Island Lighthouse with a stop over at Camara Island for some snorkelling and lunch on the beach. The jump off point is Pundakit in San Antonio, Zambales. Let us know, and we'll connect you with our friends who have a boat there. Pundakit is also a great place to find surf from June-February. We are a 20 minute drive from Subic Bay CBD. Some attractions and beaches are difficult to access without a vehicle. We recommend you have your own car or motorcycle when staying with us! If you are commuting, there are WinStar jeeps that come around. They are the white transport jeeps which stop by the waiting shed just across the street from our house, or by the church and convenience store up the hill. Those run from 9-5, and can bring you to and from town. Taxis are available 24-7. Car, Van, Jeep, and Motorcycle rentals are also available for those who prefer to drive themselves. WORKSHOP We have a small workshop in the corner of the house, near the road. You may hear some work going on there in the weekdays. FACADE Our home is an old Navy stilt house. The entire house is split into 7 AirBNB units. The house may be old, but it was built by the US Navy to withstand air raids. It's extremely sound, and our unit is newly renovated. DOGS Subic Rainforest Retreat is home to rescued dogs. Barney is a young, feisty female, and she will bark when she sees you. She's not very well socialised, so we keep her on a leash when there are guests around. Please approach her with care, she sometimes snaps at people. ACTIVITIES We can help connect you with our friends who do surfing, sailing, yoga, forest survival, island hopping, or guided trail hikes. Check our Guide Book or message us for details. We have mountain bikes available for rent. Please let us know in advance so we can bring them over to the unit. Rent is P250/day/bike.
