This traditional property dates back in parts to the early 1800’s and boasts original beams and an oak staircase, a bespoke kitchen with range cooker and large family sitting room with wood burning stove. Completely private, set in its own acre of land with orchard and ornamental garden and rustic outbuildings, guests will enjoy the spectacular scenery and peace and quiet of this beautiful rural hideaway. Simply stunning! There are footpaths and byways directly from the house and quiet country lanes for walking or cycling as well as Offa’s Dyke path (3 miles) and hill walking and nature reserves at Roundton and Corndon Hills near Church Stoke, some 4 miles distant as well as the Long Mynd, a scenic 40 minute drive away. Attractions and nearby amenities Montgomery town boasts a ruined 13th century castle (free entry and a perfect place for a picnic with spectacular views!); the Old Bell Museum of local history; two excellent tea rooms with delis; pub and Dragon Hotel bar; The Chequers Michelin starred restaurant and small supermarket (stocking local produce) with ATM; organic and homemade produce available at the Thursday and Saturday morning markets. Visit the ‘Taste Montgomery’ website for details of Tasting Trails in and around the area, sampling many of the delights of local produce. Rail stations are at Welshpool and Newtown, (20 minutes away in either direction) where there are also a range of shops including major supermarkets. Regular bus services to Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Newtown run from Montgomery. Hire cycles and explore the local area from Wheely Wonderful Cycling. Petchfield Farm is situated in the beautiful Teme valley - just 5 miles west of Ludlow. You can cycle on idyllic flat lanes ... right into Wales if you want! There are plenty of teashops, pubs, castles and best of all ... hardly any cars. We have plenty of bikes for all ages from trailers to tandems and mountain bikes. Prices from £15 per adult, £10 children. Other local attractions include Glansevern Hall Gardens and renowned Potting Shed Cafe, Gregynog Gardens and cafe, Powis Castle (National Trust) and Kerry Vale’s very own vineyard with tastings and vineyard tours. Further afield are the historic market towns of Bishop’s Castle, Ludlow (45 minutes) and Shrewsbury (45 minutes) each with an array of independent retailers and great selection of restaurants.
