This space is for you! A peaceful , beautiful, bespoke, architect- designed cabin set by the waters of Leith in Colinton Dell. You will be greeted by birdsong and the gentle sound of the river. Come relax and enjoy this space. Colinton with its wonderful history and amenities- Robert Louis Stephenson trail. Every thing is here, close to Edinburgh , the sea, beautiful hills and mountains - a gateway for you to enjoy, resting, sightseeing, walking, cycling , Edinburgh Festival -ITS ALL HERE! We are situated at the end of a four house lane. We are the end house so there is no through traffic. The Dell, which is your back garden is a beautiful wooded area with the water of Leith running through it where you may see Deer, Herons, Kingfishers , birds of prey and Otters . It is a beautiful and tranquil setting. This space is ideally for two people who can choose to either sleep in the mezzanine or on the futon on the ground floor. Occasionally on request we may allow an extra person or two people to be in the space and there will be a small extra charge £10 per person per night- ( outwith Christmas/New Year and Festival rates. We supply a welcome hamper - with local produce, Edinburgh gin, Cushiedoos tonic ( produced in Colinton ) or Prosecco/ Non alcoholic wine/Fizz ( a lovely treat) Bathrobes and slippers are supplied. Please see guidelines for Hot Tub use and mezzanine use.We require everyone to sign a disclaimer for use of both of these areas. Crystal are planted and grounded in the earth below in the four corners of the cabin. It is a beautiful combination and you feel it in the space You access the cabin through the Garden - it is a self contianed space. We are on hand to meet and greet wherever possible and to share local information and recommendations. we intend to be available and there to help whilst giving guests their own space to relax and enjoy. We will be checking the hot tub levels daily ( we will aim to do that once you are out ) or between hot tub use :-) Staying in Historic Colinton ( 1095) on your break gives you the best of both worlds - all that Edinburgh has to offer close by, but in a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle! The airport is just 15 mins drive away, and we are a gateway to sea , mountains and beautiful countryside. IN THE VILLAGE Colinton is a beautiful historic village ( 1095) on the edge of Edinburgh with much to offer. There are two amazing friendly pubs, The Spylaw has been just refurbished and is a Gastro pub, great food, tapas for snacks, cocktails, dog friendly and much more ( see photos) and The Colinton Inn, very friendly and also recently refurbished, has a lovely beer garden , simple soup and snacks .We have an award winning Italian restaurant, Dantes book early to avoid disappointment . A wonderful new restaurant opened in August called Osteria which is wonderful and opened on a Monday ( Dantes closed that day ! ) We also have a fantastic cafe, java moments with the Best coffee and cheese scones in Edinburgh!( get there early) These and the local shops are just a few minutes walk away. We have a Co-Op, chemist, dentist and doctors as well a wonderful Post office , "olive and Post" which is a Deli/gift shop selling local and Scottish produce. There is a beautiful historic church and graveyard in the village and it is a wonderfully friendly community.( see photos) THE DELL The Dell is a designated urban wildlife site and the riverbanks are host to carpets of wild flowers and many dramatic trees-including patches of ancient woodland. Home to 80 species of bird - Heron , Dipper , Goosander and King Fisher . The river holds large number of brown trout plus a dozen other species of fish. Free permits for fishing are available from the water of Leith visitor centre .You can walk from Colinton along the Canal to the centre of Edinburgh and on to Leith or up to the Balerno and the hills. BEAUTIFUL WALKS The Dell is a place of great beauty, perfect for walks along the water of Leith where you can regularly spot Herons, Kingfishers and Deer. Great for dog walking and cycling. If you are keen walkers, the Pentland Hills are just 20 minutes away and the coast is just half an hour away. There is a park for children and a beautiful green area - Spylaw Park -5 mins away AMENITIES Half an hour to the centre of the city and the Historic castle, Holyrood house, Royal Mlle, Arthurs seat, Carlton Hill, Dynamic Earth Bus tours and so much more ! Here in Colinton we have a local tennis club just a walk through the Dell where you can pay and play regular tennis on great courts and also paddle tennis. There is a sports centre with Gym and indoor/outdoor tennis courts about 10 minutes drive away. A cinema/bowling complex is a short drive way. If you don't want to go into town, there is a good variety of shops, cafes, pubs, bars and restaurants nearby. The Dry ski slope is ten minutes away. Roslyn Chapel is just 10 minutes drive away. You can play golf at Swanston Golf club, just a short drive away .You can walk Alpaca's in the local hills - the list of wonderful experiences is endless. TRANSPORT Our Cabin is only 15/20 minute drive to the Airport. Edinburgh has an excellent Airport bus service. The airport bus 400 takes just 35 mins to get to Colinton village and is £4.50 per person. It only takes 25/30 min to get into town by bus and there is a very regular bus service (every 10-15 minutes on the 10, 16, 45 Bus services). Night buses for late owls are available. Please note the cabin is for adults only - 21 years and above.
