Ensuite Room in Teesdale rural village
Situated in a small hamlet in the leeward side of the Pennines above River Tees. The village dates back to Domesday book; it's a perfect base for peace and quiet before exploring the countryside. For your use there is a spacious, well equipped kitchen. Cereal/cold breakfast provided; there is also the local village pub which serves freshly cooked food and local ales. The bedroom is situated in a modern extension to the property and contains a double bed, wardrobe, dressing table and en-suite bathroom with shower. Alongside the bedroom there is also a small reading room on the first floor. When you are staying here, please come and go as you please and make yourself at home! You'll have your own key to the property, which can be accessed via the kitchen. As well as your bedroom and bathroom, there is also a large shared kitchen and dining room. I work shifts so won't always be present. However there is a key box on the property and you can come & go as you please. The village is extremely quiet, and is in a beautiful part of Teesdale. Within easy driving distance to the town of Barnard Castle, where you can visit the aforementioned castle or the world-famous Bowes Museum, and beyond to the High Force waterfall. Heading north. a short drive can take you to the well-preserved 14th century Raby Castle. The North Yorkshire market town of Richmond, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, is approximately 25 minutes drive away. Further afield, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Durham Cathedral and adjacent castle can be reached in less than an hour by car. We have a small local pub in the village (currently open Wednesday - Sundays) however there is no shop or post office. The nearest supermarket and shops are in Barnard Castle. There is no public transport I'm afraid so a car is a must! Richmond is a twenty minute drive away, and Barnard Castle roughly the same amount of time. The Teesdale Way runs along the River Tees which can be accessed from nearby Winston Bridge for walking along the Teesdale Valley.
