Self-contained hideaway flat in the heart of Wells
The Hayloft is an independent, self-contained, two-person flat within a couple of minutes’ walk of the centre of England’s smallest city. The flat has its own front and rear entrances and secure off-street parking to the back of the house. The flat comprises a bright South-facing living/dining room with TV, and a separate, fully-equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a large shower. A spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom, with a double bed and ample cupboard and drawer space. The flat has entrances separate from the main house. The comfortable, double-height living/dining room has a dining table and chairs, sofa, armchair and TV. The kitchen and bathroom are each accessed from the living area. The well-equipped kitchen has a fridge, induction hob, microwave/conventional oven ideal for heating ready meals or cooking from scratch. Basic kitchen/dining provisions for your arrival, such as fresh milk, tea, instant coffee, ground coffee (with cafetiere), sugar salt, pepper, cooking oil. The mezzanine bedroom has a Velux window which looks out over the garden. A welcome pack of local produce will await you on arrival (if you have particular dietary requirements please let us know and we will try to accommodate). The Hayloft has free WiFi. Guests have the whole flat to themselves, with two separate entrances. We live in the main house adjacent to The Hayloft and will generally be available during your stay to answer any questions. The flat is just two minutes’ walk from Wells High Street, five minutes from the Bishop’s Palace, the moat and the Cathedral and to the wonderful market, which is held every Wednesday and Saturday. Four supermarkets are within a 10 minute walk (the nearest is just round the corner) and so are all parts of the cathedral school. Numerous pubs, cafes and restaurants are within a few minutes’ walk. The Somerset countryside is on the doorstep. Wells lies beneath the Mendip Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, with spectacular Cheddar Gorge just 9 miles away. The Somerset levels, with several nationally important nature reserves, are within easy reach by car. Wells is about 20 minutes drive from Glastonbury with its famous Tor and historic Abbey, containing the fabled burial place of King Arthur. Shopping at Clark’s Village is just beyond. Both Bristol and Bath are less than an hour’s drive away. The coast is within easy reach. The Wells tourism website is a very useful source of information but is not always up to date. Wells bus station is nearby. There is a half-hourly service to Bristol and less regular services to Bath and other Somerset towns. The secure off-street parking is through double gates beneath the flat to a large parking area with plenty of turning space, visible from the flat.
