Entire modern attic-apartment with a spacious roof terrace in a historic building in the heart of the Bernese Old Town. Private bathroom and kitchen. 3 minutes walk to Bern train station, 3 minutes to the Swiss parliament building and the most important sights, 1 minute to shops, various restaurants and the entire Bernese nightlife.. and at the same time only 5 minutes down to the river Aare or to Bern's Botanical Garden. Tickets for free public transport in Bern included. * super-central location in the heart of the beautiful Bernese Old Town (“She is the most beautiful we have ever seen", Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote about Bern in a letter to his girlfriend) * the bright studio attic apartment is on the 5th floor of a beautiful historic building and has wood parquet flooring with underfloor heating. Besides the living/kitchen area facing south, it has a sleeping area with a queen bed facing north. Moreover, there is a 'secret tower room' facing towards the inner courtyard. * Sleeping: the sleeping area has a premium 160cm queen mattress (real bed will be added within the coming weeks). The living-kitchen area has a two-seater sofa with 2 single 80x200cm bed elements, thus combining to a another full 160cm queen bed. Moreover, there is a single mattress on the floor of the 'tower room'. * Kitchen with stove/oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher. In the living room/kitchen area you'll find a bar table, dining table, the sleep sofa, and a 60 inch ultra HD TV. * Finally, the apartment has a spacious sunny roof terrace (about 220 square feet) with a view over the roofs of the surrounding area as well as at the Alps in the distance. The roof terrace is equipped with rattan lounges, dining table/chairs and a BBQ grill. * WiFi, coffee and tea are included in the price of the apartment * Private bathroom (sink, toilet, shower) and private kitchen I do like to offer some tips and will be happy to answer any upcoming questions you may have. Moreover, if time permits, I do like to talk a little. Apart from that I do not intend to bother you too much ...unless you want me to. SUPER CENTRAL, SAFE Absolutely central location in a pedestrian area right in the heart of the Bernese Old Town. Bern main train station, various restaurants, the multiple shopping opportunities, cinemas, and the entire Bernese nightlife wait right at your doorstep in just 1 to 3 minutes walking distance. The most famous sights, including the Swiss fereral parliament, the clocktower 'Zytglogge' or the Bernese Münster (cathedral) are also only 1 to 3 minutes away. And even down to the quiescence of the river Aare or to the Bernese Botanical Garden it is only a 5 minute walk. SHOPPING Your apartment is situated right in the middle of Bern's most important shopping area. Also, there are various supermarkets (Migros, Coop, Denner) in only 1 to 5 minutes walking distance from the apartment. Due to the close proximity of the main train station, you can do your groceries daily (even on sundays) even as late as until 11pm. PUBLIC TRANSPORT Location: 3 minutes walk from Bern main train station, or about 400 meters (6 minutes) from your seat in the train to the apartment door (only if you follow my directions instead of an online map). BUSTERMINAL BERN NEUFELD Take bus 11 to Bern main train station (14 minutes travel time) or one of the busses 102 to 106 (12 minutes). PARKING + several public car parks in 1-5 minutes walking distance, at hourly and daily rates. The closest ones are “Metro parking” (1 minute), “Bahnhof Parking” (3 minutes), and “Rathaus Parking” (5 minutes). For an overview look for "parking Bern" on the internet. + there is no free parking in Bern. Prices vary between CHF 30-60 for 24 hours in the Old Town, or CHF 16-30 outside of the Old Town. + after 11h in the morning, you cannot enter the street by car (pedestrian area), not even to drop off your luggage. The car park Metro parking is in only 1 minute walking distance, however. Budget parking recommendations: + Car park "Park and Ride" (P&R) in Bern Neufeld outside of the city center, right when leaving highway #1 at "Bern Neufeld" at CHF 18 for 24 hours. From there, take bus 11 to Bern main train station (13 minute transfer). Tickets for the bus transfer are included in the parking fee. + parking on the street in the “Blue Zones” (blue only, not yellow, not white), available only in the city quarters surrounding the Old Town (10-15 minute walk or 3 minutes by Tram/bus), such as in “Monbijou” or “Länggasse”. Parking in the “Blue Zones” is usually free overnight between 6pm and 8am (check the signs), free on Sundays and public holidays, free for 1 hour during the day if you use a parking disk, or fee-based (tickets available at the ticket machines of the bus-/tram stops) for 9 CHF (4 hours) or 16 CHF (24 hours). * As a result of the heritage-protected stairwell from the 16th century, there is no elevator in the building. * Smoking is not permitted inside the apartment, but you are allowed to smoke on the roof terrace. * This apartment is located in an absolutely central location right in the heart of the Old Town. Therefore, especially in warm summer nights, when you'd like to keep the windows open overnight, it may get noisy from the surrounding bars and restaurants, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. * The "tower room" with one single bed is accessible only by crawling through a small tunnel. This could not be changed due to heritage protection regulations.
