Casanovina

This well-appointed villa scores top marks for its dreamy outside spaces and excellent location. It is an easy drive to the charming Chianti town of Castellina with its local shops and several excellent restaurants, but you can also choose to walk from the villa too. Siena, San Gimignano and Florence are all easily reached by car; and, on clear days, the first two of these are visible from Casanovina. With four double bedrooms split between the main house and its adjoining annexe, the property can accommodate up to eight people. Depending on your party, you may have a battle on your hands for the annexe: its independent lounge-kitchen-diner and en-suite bedrooms will appeal to older and younger generations alike. But everyone will love the generous secluded pool, with its Roman steps, set on a romantic lower terrace with spectacular views of the surrounding Tuscan landscape. Sunloungers and a shady loggia with table and chairs, bar fridge and table tennis are enough to keep you here for hours – that is, until scent from the jasmine-covered pergola on the top furnished terrace, just outside the house, claims you for an evening meal while night sets in. Separate annexe  (accessed externally) Lounge-Kitchen-Diner Sofa, two tables, three chairs, fully equipped kitchenette, fireplace, double doors to terrace. Our Thoughts Casanovina has one of our favourite pool areas because of its simple elegance and stunning setting. The combination of the property’s privacy and proximity to Castellina makes it hard to beat. It’s a place you can relax into very quickly. We think you’ll be genuinely torn between wanting to dine under your lovely pergola and trying another of Castellina’s restaurants. (The one attached to the butcher’s is renowned for its cuts of beef.) And when you want your culture fix, Siena, San Gimignano and Florence are as good as on your doorstep. Notes Another house is located behind the property, but Casanovina remains completely private.  Only one fireplace can be used at a time. The owners live on-site in a separate house with a separate entrance. The restaurant Il Fondaccio dai Dottori is 1km away. The owners can cook for the guests if requested 1 to 2 months in advance. Pool The Roman end of the large pool has internal steps into the water; there are ladder steps at the far end, which is deep enough for diving. The pool is surrounded by a paved and furnished terrace, which gives way to lawn. The pool is 6 x 12 meters and is open from mid May to September (weather permitting). The depth of the pool goes from 1.20m to 2.20m.
