Private Attic in 1910 Restored Home
Large attic room with wonderful view, vintage furniture and full size bed in our beautiful restored turn-of-the century home in an ideal location close to uptown Athens and Ohio University. This room shares a beautiful tiled bathroom and common areas with the other bedrooms. Both front and back porches offer a relaxing spot to enjoy morning coffee or even a glimpse of deer or other neighborhood wildlife. Turn-of-the-century, three-story house, restored by owner. Lots of wood and Persian rugs. Great location within 5-minute walk of uptown Athens, Ohio University, local bike store, natural foods, and bookstore, as well as numerous restaurants. NOTE: Athens requires a 6% Transient Guest Tax which AirBNB is collecting the 3% Athens County portion but Athens City which they are unable to collect is paid separately. No pets or small children please. Coffee, tea and light breakfast fare will be ready for you in the kitchen. Common areas on the first floor are the living room and dining room. We ask guests to not use dishes, etc. without approval as many special family things are in our home. There is wireless internet for guests but downloads are restricted. We have a separate private basement suite and may be there. Someone is always available for answering questions about Athens or our houses. Resource book is available. Welcome. In a close-in mixed neighborhood, our home is ideal for your visit to our charming college town where Ohio University Bobcats are a vibrant part of art, music, sports and diversity in SE Ohio. The Southeast Ohio History Center is another interesting place to visit uptown and easy walk. Athens competed for the $5 million Georgetown University Energy Prize to reduce, recycle and reuse. Athens is proud to have been first in Ohio with curbside recycling and has advanced to single stream recycling as well as curbside compost pickups. We will get you involved too! Easy walk to uptown stores and restaurants as well as Ohio University (Began 1803-First college in the Northwest Territories). Usually street parking is available in front of the house with limited driveway spaces. GreenCabs, Athens Public Transit Buses, Lyft, bike lanes and the 19 mile Adena Bikeway between Athens and Nelsonville are all great. The GoBus has multiple runs scheduled each day to Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and is adding more, so a car is unnecessary in Athens. We actually have two "seasons" here in Athens---students "here" and then quiet periods in the summer and between semesters. Kind of like any parents---love to see them come and love to see them go! Microbreweries and several local wineries add to entertainment options. There are wonderful hiking and biking trails. Of course the Hocking Hills are nearby as well.
