Chez Baillargeon is set in a stunning secluded location and is a beautifully renovated 3 bed detached house with a salt water swimming pool, in private gardens of nearly an acre amidst the rolling countryside of the Charente region of France. We are located off the N10 between Sauzé-Vaussais and Ruffec, both towns have excellent restaurants, supermarkets, boulangerie’s, and outdoor markets selling wonderful fresh produce. The main house, garden and pool. The garden and pool area are also accessible by the Host for maintenance purposes, For the more adventurous, there is white water canoeing/rafting at either Ruffec (approx. 10 minutes) or Mansle (approx. 20 minutes) or why not take the children for a day out a Futurescope in Poitiers (approx. 1 hour) – a different kind of leisure park experience for all the family! Visit the Atlantic coast with its truly wonderful beaches - treat yourselves to a visit to one of the many quayside restaurants or café’s at the beautiful port of La Rochelle or Royan. Angoulemé with its striking architecture, world famous annual comic strip festival, car race and its many shops and restaurants is only 30 minutes away. Alternatively stay at home and plan your al-fresco lunch or evening BBQ, take a dip in the pool, participate in some outdoor garden games on offer or just relax with a glass of wine or two! ‘notre maison est votre maison’ For 2020 there are two special events happening later in the year, the Circuit des Remparts, an annual classic car race held in Angouleme in September (18-20 Sep 2020), a must for classic car fanatics everywhere! Angouleme is a beautiful city also famous for its annual comic strip festival and striking architecture, along with its many shops, indoor markets and restaurants and is only 25-30 mins away from us. Also the iconic cycling race the Tour de France, usually held in July has been postponed this year and will now be held from Saturday 29th August to Sunday 20th September 2020. Stages 10 and 11 (7-9 Sep) will be held in the Charente Maritime; Ille de Re, La Rochelle etc, before heading back inland to Poitou with a dramatic finish in Poitiers. If a fan of the Tour, our house is ideally placed for the last two stages and would make a great base to go watch it live!
